Good to remember that this was an intra - Catholic squabble. Kopernicus was a Polish Catholic priest. Athiests, protestants, moon-worshippers and secular humanists have no say in Galileo's problems. It was all about a Catholic scientist, a Catholic priest, Catholic scientific ideas, a Catholic Bishop and the Bible (first published in full form by the Catholic Church.)
