No more "Christ" with a capital C in the Netherlands
Brussels, Oct. 19, 2005 (CNA) - According to a new grammar rule in the Netherlands and Belgium, the name "Christ" will soon be written with a lower-case "c", as stipulated by an orthography reform published last Friday.
According to the Kath.net agency, the new spelling rules also will stipulate that the Dutch word for "jews" (joden) be spelled with a capital "J" when referring to nationality and with a lower-case "j" when referring to the religion. The changes will be mandatory starting in August 2006.

Bet they won't try this with "allah" and "muslim" or "islam" or the "holy koran".
Imagine if they did, the Islamofascists would go nuts and there would be riots in "the street".

Is there any reason not to despise Europe? That is how I feel too...and then I remember this:
Matthew 5:43-44
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

A logical progression for the Netherlands.
Legalizing prostitution, abortion and euthanising infants with genetic and physical defects comes with a price and it indicates a deeper spiritual sickness.

The netherlands was one of the countries that my ancestors left to come to the USA. My grandma once tried to see if there was any family left there, and found that most had already left.
The more I see Europe decline, the more I feel fortunate that my forefathers left that dying world so long ago. I will morn its passing into the new dark age though.

The name Christ? I thought it was a title. Would they also use a lower case for President or General? If considered a name, would it apply to all names?

I keep asking myself "Why haven't we plunged into the abyss like most of the rest of the world?" My boss is from Brazil, and he often comments how much more religious the US is compared to his home country. He often says that "Church is more of a cultural thing" in Brazil. Which is strange, but is similar to what my friends in Europe have said. So why aren't we there yet?
That isn't to say we have avoided the bullet, but it seems like the US has retained some of the core of Western Christian civilization while the countries where it started have abandoned it all together.
I don't know why. I would love to say "It is because WE are so much better!" but that would be a lie.

Indeed.
But Christ calls us to repentance. "Go and sin no more!" Our nation has been bent on following the theology of Glory rather than recognizing the Cross.
It is indeed God's Grace that has preserved this nation. But how long will that last when more and more of the nation is determined to fight God.

I wish I knew. At least the battle lines are being drawn with greater clarity, and more people understand the left (aka Satan's catamites) for what they are.

Christian religion descends into dead formality when it becomes divorced from this teaching:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

When I think of all the problems President Bush is having I can't help to think if Hillery is going to have a snooth ride. I know alot of conservatives are very dismayed right now. In other words is that the road we will be following if she is elected? !!!

Give them a few years and they may just have another "orthography reform" introducing a new alphabet of Arabic characters.
Incidentally, how do they enforce the changes? Send grammar school kids who refuse to change their spelling to the Hague?
They'd be retired before it was settled!

Or 'mohammed'. I wonder, are they 'de-capitalizing' Christ to placate or humor those who might be offended?

"Yeah and 62% income tax!"
Take a conservative estimate of 30% as our present level of income tax.
What people don't think about much is that an employer who is doing everything legally is paying about the same amount as an employee's salary to pay for other government mandates.
If you're making $40k, you're costing your employer about $80k to employ you. That's an extra $40k that your employer could be putting in your pay envelope, if he didn't have to give it to the government or spend it complying with government mandates instead.
Viewed that way, the income tax is not 30% but 65%.
If the "visible" income tax were 40%, the "real" income tax would be 70%, and if the "visible" income tax were 50%, the the "real" income tax would be 75%.
That's a pretty derned expensive government for a "free" country.
Even if we succeeded in getting a flat tax passed (figure the odds) or substituting a sales tax for income tax, employers would still be paying those hidden (from us) costs, so just figure the government burden on your income at 50% plus whatever shows on your pay stub.
