Which would make a great sci fi plot! Reminding me of a story in Galaxy magazine called "Socrates." Socrates is a large St. Bernard who has the power to speak. Only his young master knows his secret, and he introduces his master to the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas.

LOL...No, I mean that I don't get why people expect a Bible-thumper to be Anti-Semitic. I know many staunch Evangelicals that might qualify as "Bible-Thumpers" that are anything but Anti-Semitic. Ditto for some of my very orthodox Catholic friends....self included!

Then you get my point!

One of the old time "Bible Thumpers" was Lord Shaftesbury, a famous English evangelical and friend of Gladstone, who was a major exponent of Zionism. In fact he was for settlement of Palestine before the Jews were, because he thought that the return of the Jews to Palestine presaged the retun of Jesus.

When I read the prodigal son, I think of US as the returned sinner, and the Jews as the jealous elder brother.

Well, that's the picture St. Paul painted in Romans 11...he hoped they would get jealous but then come to Christ.

But for some people like this Sungenis guy, I think its kind of like the prodigal son in reverse. The younger brother (gentiles) stayed and the thought of the older brother returning (Jews) is too much to take. Heaven forbid more than a few come back in and taint the Church! Or maybe....that they come back and take Daddy's attention and affection away from him at all. Sounds like basic sibling jealousy to me.
