On this Holy Thursday EvE, will anyone before Easter-be watching the Passion of the Christ? In loving memory of Jesus Christ ,true God and true Man-Out of love for mankind He allowed this suffering to open Heaven's Gate, by the will of the Father.
We adore Thee O Christ and we bless Thee because by Thy most Holy Cross Thou hast redemmed the world----lest we forget!
||Buy it or rent it. It's brilliant film and worth watching a few times a year, not just Easter.|
No, I've watched it 3 times now. The brutality of it disturbs me. I might watch it again in a couple of years, but not right now.
Step away to eat an egg during the violent scenes(s), enjoy the rest.
I own it, but I won't be able to view it tomorrow night - I'll be at a Good Friday Service.
Have not seen it an don't have any desire to see it. It is a violent movie, has no spoken english words, and I already know the ending.
Maybe I will. I have not seen my DVD in awhile.
Academy Award Winning Director Mel Gibson presents The Passion of The Christ a film about the last twelve hours of Jesus of Nazareths life. The film begins in the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus has gone to pray after the Last Supper. Jesus resists Satans temptations. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus is then arrested and taken within the city walls of Jerusalem where leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy and his trial results in a condemnation to death.
UPCOMING AIRDATES: (all times ET/PT)
Showtime - Sat. 9:00 PM
Showtime Too - Mon. 9:00 PM
On Good Friday, certainly.
And remembering the first time I saw it...
It breaks my heart just to know what was done to Jesus. This year has been exceptionally humbling for me. We had a small communion service and a foot washing tonight and I was over come like never befor.
The weight of His sacrifice is overwhelming. I dont think that I would be able to make it through the movie.
(Some tough guy, huh?)
Sometimes being the tough guy isn't the best thing...
Didn't much like it myself. It had all of the pain and none of the grace.
I agree. The Book was better than the movie. My opinion.
I will probably watch it.
It only took me 20 or so years to figure that out.
No. In our home, we remember the Lord's Glorification, not His murder.
Yes I will if the library is open.
Maybe Sunday, after Shabbat.
The year this movie came out I took off work Ash Wednesday to view the film with my teenage daughter. During Lent she was admitted to the hospital, underwent emergency surgery, and almost died. She spent Easter Sunday in the hospital. Her stay totalled an entire month. It was a very trying Lent for all of us, but especially her.
I bought the DVD, but have not viewed the movie since its opening day. I can't watch it on Good Friday, but intend to see it on Holy Saturday.
Watched it after the Holy Thursday Mass. After all, the repose of the Lord in an alternate location represents His praying in the Garden...that's where the movie starts up, so it is appropriate.
Definitely puts one in the mood for the events of today.
We finally bought the DVD this week. I watched part of it on Sunday night and finished it last night to put myself in the proper spirit for today. I prefer to not watch the entire movie in one sitting. As a man, this has got to be the only movie that has ever made me cry...for good reason, though.
A holy Good Friday to you and everyone.
I'm doing Stations of the Cross and then Veneration of the Cross from noon to 3:00 and then The Good Friday Passion Service tonight at 7:00. Somewhere in between I plan to view 'The Passion'.
Good idea for this, Good Friday!
I'd like to thank everyone who wrote, and add:
The Passion was grace,to suffer, the Passion is Easter..
God bless all of you Amen
