You hit the nail right on the head. Rather than rejoicing at being in the presence of other believers, the author took the opportunity to look down his nose at this gathering of God's people and condemn everyone who didn't think exactly as he does about things that have really nothing to do with the essence and meaning of what it is to have Christian Fellowship.

The article says a lot more about the spiritual condition of the author than it does about the spiritual condition of those he so self-righteously condemns.
