The HWE is quite a careful job of scholarship, and it's citations are telling and numerous, no matter how "extremely selective"ly they may strike you.
The truth lies in the middle - the average German was not driven by a lust to murder Jews. The guilt of the average German consisted in the fact that they largely stood by and let it happen without complaint. They just went along with the evil.

The NY Times had Jewish publishers during the time Walter Duranty covered-up and was morally complicit in Stalin's murder of six million Christians in Ukraine. Did Ochs, et al, learn their antiChristian hatred in the Synagogues and Temples of New York?

Do you like having your"approach" thrown back at you? I certainly am uncomfortable even using it as an example to open your own eyes to the way you go after others. I have spent a lot of time in here defending Jews against all manner of unjustifiable "doctrine," such as supercessionism, the "fact" of their being condemend as a race, etc etc
Assuming your house is not surrounded by Nazi Tanks (as was the Vatican during the time you castigate the church for inaction) please tell us what YOU have done to stop the slaughter of innocents during this holocaust of abortion.
Do think this is a good courtroom defense of a serial killer?: "Gee your honor, I did much worse crimes than the one's I'm accused of."
*You think the Catholic Church is equivalent to a serial killer. Please post for all any Papal Encyclical, any Ecumencial Coniliar Document, any Universal Catechism which justifies such rank bigotry.
I take it your house is not surrounded by Nazi tanks, or gangs of roving Christians brandishing machine guns etc. Were that the case, I think your, ah, approach to others would be far less combative, irritating and off-putting.
You may as well get to the end-game right now. Blame God. He is the one who created us to have Free Will. The Pope has condemned abortion. So, abortion was never made legal in America where Christians predominate as the electorate, right?
