Sen. Obama: Democrats Must Compete for Evangelicals
Fox News ^ | Jun 28 2006

Posted on 06/28/2006 6:32:16 AM PDT by Alex Murphy

[excerpted]
...."Not every mention of God in public is a breach to the wall of separation. Context matters," the Illinois Democrat said in remarks prepared for delivery to a conference of Call to Renewal, a faith-based movement to overcome poverty.

"It is doubtful that children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance feel oppressed or brainwashed as a consequence of muttering the phrase `under God,"' he said. "Having voluntary student prayer groups using school property to meet should not be a threat, any more than its use by the High School Republicans should threaten Democrats."
.....
Obama said millions of Christians, Muslims and Jews have traveled similar religious paths, and that is why "we cannot abandon the field of religious discourse. ... In other words, if we don't reach out to evangelical Christians and other religious Americans and tell them what we stand for, Jerry Falwells and Pat Robertsons will continue to hold sway."

Obama coupled his advice with a warning. "Nothing is more transparent than inauthentic expressions of faith: the politicians who shows up at a black church around election time and claps — off rhythm — to the gospel choir."
An apt description of the Democrats courting Christians in 2006...

How can the Godless compete for people of faith?

In so many ways Ann Coulter has done a great service. Trotting out unassailable "victims" to voice Leftist Talking Points is no longer a viable tactic. Trying to "compete for Evangelicals" is also a non-starter for the Godless.

Ann is thinking several moves ahead of these guys.

It'll be kinda difficult to get Evangelicals while touting the joys of abortion-on-demand. But they'll try it anyhow.

I hate to agree with Obama, but he's spot on (coughKerrycough):

Obama coupled his advice with a warning. "Nothing is more transparent than inauthentic expressions of faith: the politicians who shows up at a black church around election time and claps — off rhythm — to the gospel choir."

It's my understanding that he is, in fact, a man of faith. I won't question that, and there's plenty more issues to butt heads with him on. That being said, I hope the voters see through all these Democrats trying to court the Christian votes. By December, they will have forgotten that constituency.

Since the godless assume people of faith are stupid rubes they figure that if they lie to us then we'll easily fall for it. The fact that people of faith see through the false facade is lost on democrats, however.

How can the Godless compete for people of faith?

By making us an offer they think we can't refuse...

Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;
and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me."

If Hollywood ever makes "Say Anything Part II", Barack Hussein Obama should definitely get the John Cusack-lead role.

This guy is shrewd. Whether he believes it or not is anyone's guess - he's saying the right things. If the dems were smart they'd continue to push him and guys like Evan Bayh to the forefront and throw a blanket over Kerry, Clinton, et al.

" shows up at a black church around election time and claps — off rhythm — to the gospel choir."

Did I tell you about the time I was speaking at a black church convention in Orlando and I was the only white face on the platform. The organist was one of the best jazz organists I have ever heard and the choir had the whole convention rocking and there I was, standing exposed for all to see my lack of rhythm. My host, the Bishop of the convention, saw my dilemma, put his arm around my shoulder and whispered to me, "why don't you sit down, put your head in your hands and the audience will think you were overcome with the Spirit or praying". Relief!!

It'll go something like this:

"Remember how Jesus said 'render unto Caesar' and remember the story of 'the widow's mite'?

"Okay then, you'll agree that Jesus was in favor of big government socialism, right?"

Well -- maybe not that ham-fisted.

Sounds more like a charlatan than a man of faith with those comments.

I love Ronaldus Magnus, but years ago there was an old cable comedy show "Not Necessarily the News." It was like the Daily Show. Anyway, NNTN showed a lengthy clip of Nancy and President Reagan at a black church, amongst the choir. Nancy was clapping just fine, but the Prez could not stay in rhythm to save his life. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV. Not because it was Reagan, just because it was funny!

My liberal, non Christian sister was telling me yesterday how much she dislikes Clinton and his wife and hasn't found a Democrat on a national level that she can support...so she voted for Bush twice.

We aren't buying it, Osama. Jimmy Carter kinda burned us on that one.

What authentic "expressions of faith" could the Liberals possibly show? They haven't a clue because they are neither authentic or people of faith.

Drugs?

Godlessness?

Won't happen. Demcrats value, above all, candidates that pi** off Republicans. And Obama and Bayh don't do that.

The Democrat Party is on a suicide mission...let's not distract them from their goal.

Agreed, it's just amazing to me that they keep losing elections yet insist on embracing the agenda of the kook left.

Look Obummabamma,

We Evangelicals do a LOT of dumb things.

But suicidal is not our family value.

You can take your DIMRATS FROM HELL and send them home.

Our beloved Republic, the world and most definitely our families would be many orders of magnitude better.

But, he, I'm sure you can find some ignorant folks in Evangelical ranks who'll think push-button smarmy DIMRATS are next to Godliness. God have mercy on their souls sold to the government store.

What you plan to use them for once your globalist Machiavellian goals and methods are done with them--organ donors?

WRONG! NOT ALLOWED! Go chase a Kennedy . . . or a duck.

"I hope the voters see through all these Democrats trying to court the Christian votes."

I hate to use the analogy, but it's like Clinton courting Monica. He'll say anything to get what he wants (in this case a vote) but won't do the honorable thing and follow through with their promises (whatever they might be). It amounts to vote-rape. (My apologies to those who have been date-raped...I know one is far worse then the other.)

Sincerely

Abra Cadabra is a young rat. He still thinks the shiite the rat belches out is on the level. A little naive, I'd say. Telling the rat not to act like people of faith if they are not must have gotten a big laugh at uncle teddie's happy hour parties.

The rats are wasting their time.

The Scripture tells us how to expose demons posing as angels of light:

1 John 4:1-3 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh F11 is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

Also, the first time they are asked whether or not the only road to God the Father is through Jesus the Son, they will begin foaming at the mouth and the gig will be up.

They need to think this through more than they obviously have.
