Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s Cause for Canonization has been moving forward quite well lately. I hear that it appears that the miracle needed for his beatification will be found among those which have been pouring in recently (one of them, which I believe may already have been verified, was from a woman from my parish). A concern is that since he was such a prolific writer, the review of his voluminous writings may not be completed for some time and could, therefore, delay the process.For the review process, each document must be reviewed by two qualified persons. Qualified means: a Catholic with an advance ecclesiastical degree in theology (STL or STD). The Diocese of Peoria is responsible for the review and could use more help.
If you have an STL or STD and would be willing to help out in the review, Fr. Christopher Layden, the Moderator for the Fulton J. Sheen Theological Commission, would love to hear from you. If you know of someone who meets the requirements, please pass this on to him.

On a less serious note I think it is funny that this is probably one of the only cases where they might say "If you have an STD" come work for us.

They used to run old tapes of Bishop Sheen's TV show on EWTN (maybe still do). He was the original Great Communicator.

Huh? Sheen was born and raised in Illinois.
My husband's maternal grandfather was born and raised in New Jersey, and HE had an Irish accent.
Whatever the origin of his accent, the cadences and inflexions are musical and delightful to listen to.
He was well loved in our family. It was a miracle that we would stop fighting amongst ourselves to sit down and watch his show. For that alone, he gets my vote for beautification.
I obtained the audio files of his Life is Worth Living series. Each last about 25 minutes or so.
There is a link on the official site where you can download them for a buck a piece (there are 50 of them). Or, they can be obtained in real audio from an EWTN server, although the audio quality of the real audio set is not that great.
Lastly, you can order the 25 CD set (two talks per CD) from the link off the official site for abour $85.
If you buy them, you have to figure a portion of the the money might help fund the cause.
The audio set I have is excelent..they must have remastered them. I got them in mp3 format from a link on the web that is now dead, but I'm gonna buy them from the official website to make it allright. They're good for ipods and such.."Godcasts" thay call 'em. Good to listen to if your doing mindless work throughout the day.
The real audio set from the EWTN server was a recording of their broadcast, so they were free.

The good Bishop was indeed of Irish descent, and did grow up in Illinois. I tip my hat to you, that you can hear the silver tongue of Ireland in his voice.
