KATHMANDU (Reuters) - Hundreds of people have flocked to a remote village in eastern Nepal to see a "sweating" idol of a Hindu god, a sign of impending turmoil or natural disaster for the devoutly religious nation.
Witnesses said that sweat seeped out of the idol of the Bhimeshwor god at a temple in Dolakha, a few hours drive from Kathmandu, during evening prayers at the weekend.

Sounds, in many ways, very familiar to the stories I hear about this or that statue crying or dripping blood. I wonder if anyone familiar with such thing might care to comment.
No, how does it sound familiar?
Paula Abdul has already signed on for the “Nepalese Sweating Idol” spinoff.
Material porosity and capillary action. “Weeping Mary” stories are awash on the internet.
“No, how does it sound familiar?”
1. Weeping, sweating, dripping, bleeding...
2. Idol or statue...
That person must be channeling the spirit of “rooster”.
Weeping ... stories are awash...”
Ohhhhh. Nice pun.
It was not intended. Thanks for pointing it out!
ughhhhhhhhh

4) Supernatural phenomenon of diabolical origin.
This is true of every reported occurrence of weeping statues. I know of one or two instances which fall into category #1 and I know of several which I believe fall into category #3. As there are demonic counterfeits for many Divinely worked miracles, it wouldn't surprise me if there were some #4s floating around. This may be one.
Is that the Kaaba?
Yes. Muslim pilgrims kiss the stone through that.

What was the temperature the days before the sweating began?
Wwhat was the temprature and HUMIDITY the day they noticed the sweating?
I have a workshop floor that sweats in humid weather and I have a house wall that sweated so bad the wallpaper fell off. The weather was extremely cold, then a warm humid front came through. The cold room was closed up and the warm humidity condensed on the wall.
Looks quite similar to the toilet’s in prison I’ve seen in movies.
When I read the title I thought it said “Swearing” idol.
It’s been a rough weekend.
