Redding is "canonically resident" in the Diocese of Rhode Island -- this bishopess with an actual backbone is her titular bishop only.
The bishop of the Diocese of Washington (I think) where Redding is actually physically located, thinks her double-mindedness is just fine and dandy. Redding naturally prefers the "authority" of her local bishop, and has declared that she will not obey her canonical bishop.
It's about to get really interesting here.
So glad I am now just watching the train wreck and no longer in one of the passenger cars.
As Mark Steyn said (paraphrased) “I should have known the first female imam would be an Episcopalian”
Please ping your Anglican list.
I'll bet it makes the Rev. Imam Redding feel real bad too.
lol.
Truly amazing news!
The Rt. Rev. Geralyn Wolf, bishop of the Diocese of Rhode Island has decided that the big tent of TEC actually does have a limit and that freedom to believe almost anything does not in fact include everything.
This news coming the same week as the ELCA’s decision to expel an non-chaste partnered gay Pastor may cause the left to believe that the sky is falling!
Wonderful news indeed!

Join a mosque and get a year to think about it. Join CANA and you are immediately dismissed.
That has been thrown out as being too exclusive. The new stool is a process of discerning the will of the Holy Spirit for a couple of hours and then taking a vote.
I’m a little confused. The first bishop from the Seattle area (where she prayed as a Muslim and pretended to be an Episcopal priest) accepted her being Muslim, but a bishop in Rhode Island suspended her. How does the Rhode Island bishop have jurisdiction over her?
It said she was still canonically resident in Rhode Island. I guess there’s some transfer that didn’t occur, for some reason. I’ve not heard of anything like this before.
NEITHER issue is over yet!!!!
For the muslim-Episcopalian priestess, see post #21 (thanks to AnAmericanMother). This priestess’ local “bishop” is not alone in liking the idea of an Episcopal “priest”-muslim, because of the abject dhimmitude of the ECUSA. And the ELCA, especially the more liberal synods such as my own, is also thoroughly dhimmi, even though there are no pastor-muslims that I know of. Our synod assembly just voted to begin dialogue with muslims, even though they have none with Orthodox Christians.
As for the “Gay” Bradley Schmeling case, and the resolutions to change ELCA rules about “partnered” “gay” pastors and “gay blessings”, all of that will be before the ELCA Churchwide Assembly in August, as we discussed on another thread.
So the left is still very much pushing their agenda, and it will be a very hot August in Chicago. But it’s hard for me to figure why they are so keen on backing islam, since the extremist muslims despise everything the leftists stand for.
Holy hand grenades, batman! The episcopal church is actually disciplining someone?
Now if only they'd discipline homosexuals. (*at LEAST the practicing ones)
amen, brother.
It is simply an example of the old rule that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." The objective of the left is continued deconstruction of Western civilization. With this in mind, a little dhimmitude would be viewed as a good thing.
Sir Salman Rushdie certainly nailed it, didn’t he?
I think you're getting to the heart of the matter. What do Muslims do to homosexuals? What does the Episcopalian church think about homosexuality? These people have a problem.
Also, after these few weeks of controversy, is Bishop Warner still singing the same tune?
From the earlier story (6/17/07):
Redding's bishop, the Rt. Rev. Vincent Warner, says he accepts Redding as an Episcopal priest and a Muslim, and that he finds the interfaith possibilities exciting. Her announcement, first made through a story in her diocese's newspaper, hasn't caused much controversy yet, he said.
