So would I! I’d have to be a fly on the wall; I couldn’t afford to listen any other way. With all of the potential subject matter for Benedict to...uh...discuss with His Eminence, I’d need to take out a second mortgage to pay for the phone bill to eavesdrop the usual way!
What letters? There NEVER were any letters! Troglodytes in favor of the TLM can’t read or write anyway!
Not!
Yup!
Geez, that is so true!
Rumor has it that here in Detroit, 2000 letters went to the Archdiocese requesting the TLM. They denied it.
Pitifully for them, most CCd the Vatican. Our good Cardinal got an earful from JPII. After his meeting, we got a TLM at a downtown parish
Time to get organized! I found these links on a Catholic website. Might be a good idea.

Last night we had a Mass in preparation for The Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. This was his first Mass with us. He did a large portion of it in Latin.
Thanks for the link. Domusdei has a poll, if anyone’s interested in being counted, so to speak!
OOps — meant to say “petition,” but the link’s above!
Thanks for the game plan! :)
I lived in Albany, New York for several years, and Iâve been living in Los Angeles for several years. Believe me, Mahony is worse than Hubbard...much worse. Mahony is smarter than Hubbard, so he accomplishes much more than Hubbard ever could. For example, the abomination that passes for a Catholic Cathedral in Los Angeles â the âRog Mahalâ â never could have been built in Albany because Hubbard would never have maneuvered around local Catholics as skillfully as Mahony did. In any case, I look forward to the day when both cities have new bishops!
“sniff” ...”We already have your joyless Latin Mass (in the new form) available in TWO WHOLE CHURCHES! WHAT MORE DO YOU BACKWARDS FLAT-EARTHERS WANT? Oh, don’t forget, the annual Archdiocesan appeal is upcoming.”
You got it! Note that they already have the TLM in 2 parishes. You can be sure they will begin with a headcount to justify their future actions.
>>Oh, dont forget, the annual Archdiocesan appeal is upcoming.<<
Oh is that the truth!
You and your lovely wife will just have to join us one Sunday, for the Maronite Divine Liturgy. While most of the liturgy is in English, certain parts of the liturgy are chanted in Aramaic - the Entrance Dialogue, Prayer of Incense (during the incensation of the church), the Qadeeshat (Trisagion) before the Tabernacle and, most importantly, the Words of Institution. To hear the priest chant those words over the bread and wine, is like being at the Last Supper.
During the Consecration of the Cup, the Maronite priests tip the Chalice in the 4 directions of the earth to signify that Christ shed His Blood for all mankind. This practice dates back to the first century when, according to archaeological digs, the first Maronite Churches were constructed on the foundations of formerly Jewish synagogues. It retains the Jewish practice of spilling the blood of the consecrated animal, on the four corners of the altar.
BTW - we have a Greek Orthodox family that attends Sunday liturgy. The wife is from Jordan and wants to hear the Gospel proclaimed in Arabic. The husband is from England, an Anglican convert to the GOC.
Is that the one in Michigan?
Yes!
It looks like it will be the status quo for the time-being in my home diocese of Wilmington, Delaware as well.
From http://www.cdow.org/071207.pdf
Beth Miller would love to attend Mass at her parish, Holy Cross in Dover, every week. But she prefers the Tridentine Mass in Latin, which Holy Cross offers only on the third Sunday of the month....
About 100 people attend the monthly Tridentine Mass at Holy Cross; St. Patricks in Wilmington averages between 90 and 95 people for its Tridentine Mass on the second, fourth and fifth Sundays and on holy days of obligation....
Bishop Saltarelli does not anticipate an avalanche of requests for more Tridentine Masses in the Diocese of Wilmington. I believe that the Masses currently being celebrated at St. Patricks and at Holy Cross certainly respond to the needs of those who seek this particular Mass, he said.
The diocese does not have enough priests trained in Latin or familiar with the Missal of John XXIII to offer beyond what we currently have, he said.
Well, Bishop Saltarelli, as good as he has been on the pro-life and other issues, is deaf to the pastoral needs of Catholics who are attached to the "extraordinary use." In any case, he's about to turn 75, and his resignation is likely going to be accepted by the Pope, so let's hope the next ordinary invites the FSSP or the Institute of Christ the King to the Diocese of Wilmington.
Believe me, Mahony is worse than Hubbard...much worse. Mahony is smarter than Hubbard, so he accomplishes much more than Hubbard ever could.
If you have ever wondered, as I did, how these two men could have been elevated to Bishop and Cardinal, you will find the following article most informative.
Still Proud Of Bishops He Gave U.S. - Archbishop Jadot
