That’s one of the big problems with religion. Your’s is right and therefore everyone else’s has to be wrong. It doesn’t bother me though until people start believing their god wants them to go out and bother me, or worse, kill people that don’t believe just like they believe.

I know this is an old thread and many discussions have ensued, but back to commenting on the original article/question:

Why is the Pope saying the Catholic Church is the only true Church offensive? I expect that from the top leader of that church. If he didn’t believe that, I’d think he was a weak leader.

I may disagree with him, being a non-Catholic (or -yikes- being a weak PC Catholic), but I’m not going to be shocked or offended that a man who believe in his church thinks it’s the way to go.

The only belief that all Protestants hold in common is that they don't obey papal teaching.

Flame-bait alert!
I haven’t takent he time to read the whole thread, but here’s the deal: I in my college and now my married years, and my favorite aunt now in her widowed years only recently, have gone from Catholic to Protestant practicing faiths.
I felt then and feel now, and my favorite aunt now agrees, that what we practice now is so much closer to knowing the actual Gospel and Word. In practical terms, the worship services themselves are so much more enlightening and speak so much more personally and on practical levels than the recitation of the Catholic Mass we onced experienced.

The arrogance of the Catholic Church should not surprise us.

Being of the Catholic denomination does not give you a lock box on God.
