...and seminarians would have to take courses in Latin. During many centuries seminarians have fallen through the cracks and not been able to reach the goal of the priesthood because Latin was too difficult for them.

It should be pointed out that the need for Latin goes beyond the Mass but also involves the ability to study theology and have immediate access to Church documents in their original language.

College seminarians at Sacred Heart in Detroit are required to take it.
Sounds like he had a difficult time with Latin at the seminary.
I’m glad someone is — I don’t think they’ve been teaching it in Boston, or at least they haven’t been requiring it.
