VATICAN CITY, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- The Vatican is denying reports it plans to install more exorcists around the world so possessed people can get help quickly.
"Pope Benedict XVI has no intention of ordering local bishops to bring in garrisons of exorcists to fight demonic possession,'' Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi told reporters in Rome Friday.
On Thursday, the Roman Catholic Web site Petrus said the pope planned to install more exorcists in every diocese next year and reintroduce a prayer during mass to St. Michael the Archangel, believed to be the prime protector against evil, The Telegraph in Britain reported Saturday.
Paolo Scarafoni, a priest at Vatican University who teaches how to recognize and expel Satan, said exorcists increasingly are in demand because devil worship has become so common, reported ANSA, the Italian news agency. "Priests are being bombarded," Scarafoni told ANSA.
This is too bad because the world sorely needs more exorcists. I also think the St. Michael prayer desperately needs to be brought back to recitation during mass.
Just my opinion.
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Did you see this?
Pope’s exorcist squads will wage war on Satan
So who knows which story is accurate.
The truth probably lies somewhere in between. From what I read several months ago, there has been an increased interest in priests to attend these classes. Professional Exorcist is one 'shingle' a priest rarely posts.
The St. Michael Prayer was never said during Mass, but afterward, and was never “abandoned” (as claimed in another of these articles). We said it in our parish after mass just last week, and most people include in in their rosary.
Interestingly, Saints Michael, Gerard Majella (patron of expectant mothers and a Jesuit) and newly-Blessed Stanislaus Papczynski have also recently regained “popularity” as good saints to invoke for an end to the evil of abortion.
Wish it were true!
The Senate and House could benefit from their work.
“All Christian people have you, 0 Archangel Michael, as a mighty defender and helper in battle against the adversary. Therefore, we, wishing to be granted your marvelous protection, call upon you on the day of your solemn feast in this way:
Hail, you by whom Satan was cast down like lightning from heaven!
Hail, you by whom humanity preserved goes up to heaven!
Hail, splendid adornment of the most radiant world on high!
Hail, most glorious defender of the fallen world here below!
Hail, never-defeated by the forces of evil!
Hail, you, established forever by divine grace in truth and righteousness with all God’s angels!
Hail, Michael, great chief captain with all the hosts of heaven!”
The Third Chant from the Akathist in Honor of +Michael the Archangel. Its quite beautiful:
Interesting........hope it’s true.

Wait til he gets a load of this:
The vatican has a lot of priests to work on, so they better get started, the sooner, the better.
