Yes I know it says that in Deut but people always mess up by forgetting that some prophetic words, like those from Jonah and Isaiah, can be altered by what choices the “hearer” makes.

Worldwide peace is coming. But it’s gonna get real messy first!

Why do so many who claim to be knowledgeable spout this nonsense?!
God told Jonah to declare that Nineveh would fall in 40 days. It didn't happen. So there goes your "golden rule".

However, God later clearly stated and revealed to Jonah exactly what He had done and why. Robertson states he doesn't know why God did not act in the manner He said He would.

Isaiah told Hezekiah that he would die shortly. It didn't happen. So there again goes your "golden rule".

However, in Isaiah chapter 38 God again clearly tells Isaiah that He has changed is mind as a result of Hezekiah's prayers and added 15 years to his life.

But according to you, one of the greatest prophets (Isaiah) is a false one. I'll leave it to others to explain why he's not.

I stand by the standard clearly articulated in the Bible.

If Hillary is elected President, he might not be so far off in his predictions.

“God told Jonah to declare that Nineveh would fall in 40 days. It didn’t happen. So there goes your “golden rule”.”

Go read it again. I do believe he said that Nineveh would fall if they did NOT turn from their evil ways. They did and were spared from God’s wrath which is why Jonah then went on a pity party. Please if you are going to quote scripture, please get it right. Thank you.

I will read up on the Isaiah one and get back to you as I am not fully familiar with that prophecy.

I think they had a pretty good system for dealing with false prophets back in the Old Testament days. I’m just saying...

However, God later clearly stated and revealed to Jonah exactly what He had done and why.

So, that's irrevelant as to why your hard and fast is wrong.

However, in Isaiah chapter 38 God again clearly tells Isaiah that He has changed is mind as a result of Hezekiah's prayers and added 15 years to his life.

Once again, totally irrevelant as to why your hard and fast is wrong. The simple fact is that sometimes people can choose to respond to whats been said so that things change.

Maybe the poor man has a brain tumor.

I've lived in Virginia Beach for almost 30 years, Pat has been making bizarre predictions for as long as I can remember. I don't recall him EVER making an accurate prediction unless he was merely following conventional thinking. My favorite was 20 years ago when he predicted that the world "might" end if he wasn't elected president.

No, you go read it again.

"And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown."

It DOES NOT say "unless they turned from their evil ways".

Please if you are going to quote scripture, please get it right. Thank you.

How about you follow your own lecture AND THEN you can give it to someone else.

Then there was Jonah...God told him he was going to destroy
Nineveh but when Jonah finally preached to the city, the city repented and God stayed his hand. It tells me that while God may give warning messages to folks in order to warn those who need repentance, God will act in a tactically dynamic way stay his hand should repentance occur.

Religious folks have a tendency to look at God as acting in a strategic...”course is set” way and we forget he can also choose to act dynamically in an “up to the minute” way as well. God is interested in our salvation, not our destruction!

Be that as it may, to make startling very specific prophecies that don’t come true especially when there has been no mass repentance on the part of the nation does make Robertson’s prophecies suspect. He is right that prayers of righteous folk can make a difference as scripture says...even Abraham would have secured the continued existence of Sodom if God had found 10 righteous folk there.

So in the end what can we say...only God knows Robertson’s heart, perhaps he is a charlatan or perhaps certain folk in this country who are strong in intercessory prayer convinced a loving God to stay his hand once again.

I can look at Robertson’s personal fruits...no hint of sexual sin, not a drunk, yet may be more materialist minded in that he tends to teach a “prosperity” type of faith.(keep giving your tithe and then some extra, exude a positive attitude and you’ll have tapped into the heavenly ATM machine). His basic gospel is otherwise orthodox Christianity, blood spilled for the atonement of our sins and all that goes with that. His ministries and finances are frequently vetted by independent organizations to maintain public integrity. He does tend to make some blood thirsty public statements such as his call to assasinate Chavez....but then again so have a lot of Freepers!

So I have a mixed view of the man...but I find myself hesitant question his internal faith. He is human and prone to error...but so was King David, Paul, Peter...as well as your kindly neighbor down the road who may have gotten unjustly angry at a 2 dollar error made by the fast food waitress!

I lived in Virginia Beach from 1978 to 1986 (counting summers home from college). Robertson sure is a rich man.

I would love to see his track record, I know for as long as I remember, his predictions haven’t come true. Maybe the voices he is hearing isn’t God??

You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ". If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

Deut 18: 21,22

Pat's foolish...and, other that being a bad example, he's harmless.

You have spoken well. I try not to comment - at all - about people who proclaim to walk with God for the reasons you state, but on the other hand, I do concern myself when others may harm the reputation of Christ and potentially create an unnecessary stumbling block to salvation.
