As I understand it the idea of the Bible being "literally true" mean that one believes that what the Bible says in true (i.e., Jonah was really swallowed by a whale, Jesus REALLY was born of a virgin Mary, Jesus REALLY did rise from the dead etc...it does not mean that Jesus was a door).

Amen. When Bill Clinton called his programs the New Covenant, he was guilty of blasphemy. The New Covenant was ushered in when Jesus was crucified.

No, he did not use ‘myth’, but he did use ‘hyperbole’.
When Jesus told Peter we should forgive our brothers “seventy times seven” times, that meant, really, that we should never stop. Unless I am mistaken, that could be classified as hyperbole.

OMG. Bill Clinton is certifiable.

“Do you not think it strange that Clinton and Gore had these pastors to the White House to discuss/argue Christian doctrine?!”
I don’t. Clinton is supposed to be a Southern Baptist. If he can get some conversation out of context, or worse, get the SBC leaders to agree with him through deceit or misstatement, he’s got a political tool, either to ruin those leaders and discredit Southern Baptists, or to try and persuade other Southern Baptists to go along with him. (In this case, Bubba just had to make something up...)
I do, however, suddenly get that familiar picture of Satan taking Jesus up to the top of the Temple and misquoting scripture to him to encourage a defection... Didn’t work for him, either.

Do you not think it strange that Clinton and Gore had these pastors to the White House to discuss/argue Christian doctrine?!A pastor bringing religious debate into the White house is not so strange as two ex presidents plus Gore bringing political debate into the church.
