Moscow, April 1, Interfax The Vatican's missionaries got down to their plans to convert Kosovars in Catholicism, an article published in the Profile magazine reads.
It cites Kosovo Catholic bishop Dode Gjergji speaking before European democratic parties' officials in Brussels as he called Kosovo Muslims Islamized Catholics converted in Islam by terror.
Later in the American Congress he stressed again that absolute majority of Kosovars were "pro-Christian" and thus were "pro-European and pro-American."
Catholicizing Kosovo with its 3% of Catholics, its "cultural baptism" (this is how Gjergji calls his mission in the region) will provide Pristine with "a European ID card" and calm down European public opinion concerned with Islamic intervention in the continent, the author says.
"It's quite evident that Vatican has actively participated in the anti-Serbian game throughout Yugoslavian history thus fulfilling its global task of proselytism in the East of Europe," the article reads.
Its author claims that "these longstanding plans made use of historical situations, wars and cooperation with Tito's totalitarian regime. Yugoslavia only formally was hostile to pontificate as if preventing the latter from execution of its old missionary plans."
In the first half of the 20th century Vatican signed the Concordat with the government in Belgrade which declared the kingdom of Yugoslavia a state of mission. No other European state allowed Vatican to impose such definitions after World War I, the author notes.
After Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito died, Vatican was one of the first to back up Yugoslavia's separatism and formation of independent Catholic republics in 1980s.
Would you rather have them Catholic - or Muslim?
I took courses in college with the grandson of one of the last secular priests in Albania. The Albanians are unrepentant and to this day continuing the desecration and destruction of Catholic sites in Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia.
Read up on Lek Luli and Anton Harapi (Fransiscans), Lazer Shantoja and Andrea Zadeja (secular Catholic priest/scholars), and Nikoll Gazulli.

What kind of question is that, L? This is, given the state of the Dialog right now, just about the stupidest idea I've seen in a long time. On the other hand, Dode Gjergji is a dog vomit Albanian and hopefully this is just personal verbal diarrhea and not anything official from the Vatican. One would think that with the Vatican's unfortunate history with nationalism in the Balkans, it would know enough to keep Kosovo at arm's length beyond dealing with its own little Calibans there. The foregoing notwithstanding, if Latin or Muslim is the only choice, I'd say that attitudes have changed since the days of "Better the Sultan's turban than the Pope's mitre".
The time is ripe for Christianity.
FWIW, I was talking to one of our electrical contractors who is from Bosnia. He is trying desperately to get all his family out of there because of the fanatics who have come there.
“FWIW, I was talking to one of our electrical contractors who is from Bosnia. He is trying desperately to get all his family out of there because of the fanatics who have come there.”
Invite him to a prayer meeting and tell him to pray to our God. He’s the only chance Bosnia has because no one else is going to pull their Mohammedan chestnuts out of the fire.
When I was a little boy, I would listen to the stories the old men told at my grandfather’s business. One of them was a Chinese fellow, the grandfather of one of my best friends. He would tell me about dragons flying in the sky in China when he was little and how the “Son of Heaven” sat on a throne in a Forbidden City. Then he said how when he came to America it was time to forget all that and become an American, including becoming a pillar of the local Baptist Church. Tell your Bosnian sub about the old Chinaman.
Ping!
Haven't got to the Wednesday service yet, but we are talking. The impression I've gotten is most just want to get out. I hear the same from Croations and Montenegroans.
I think it is only a question of time till war breaks out again.
Then he said how when he came to America it was time to forget all that and become an American, including becoming a pillar of the local Baptist Church.
So how did we lose you?
Strausburg, Feb 21, 2008- The Apostolic Administrator of Kosovo, Archbishop Dodë Gjergji said the Catholic Church there supports the creation of a new state....."
Sorry, this Bishop lost whatever spiritual credibility he might have had with right there with that statement. "Peace and reconciliation" cannot begin with stealing what does not belong to you -- even, and most especially, in the name of "the Church". It is not the Christian way.
Well, there was the Lithuanian tailor and the Polish Jewish furrier and the Italian grocer all of whom had their stories of the “old country” populated with snow and wolves and Cossacks and a guy named Garibaldi and their “God Bless America” attitudes but my Greek grandfather told the best stories and the altar boy and priest's robes at the Greek Church had the Baptist choir robes beat all to h*ll! Besides, we use incense, great clouds of sweet smelling incense which, like our prayers, arise before Him! :)
Yep, I can see the attraction. We just have that plain building with that guy screaming about hell fire and brimstone. OTOH, we really don't need the incense when our pastor gets the congregation going the whole building is shaking.
On the serious side, over the long term unless we begin to really convert these people Europe will be dominated by the muslims in two generations. The demographics are terrible.
You see, the Orthodox Church doesn't focus on fleeing from Hell but fleeing to God

How? The statement was about the creation of a new state. How could anyone lose spiritual credibility because of that?
Might as well have said, "Yes, I applaud you for burning churches, killing Serbs for organ transplants and stealing Kosovo from the Orthodox. Now let's gather round a fire and sing Kumabaya!"
How sick, hypocritical and 4th Crusader of him!
“Your faith was not strong enough?Just a guess.”
Huh?
:)Wrong ping,sorry FRiend.(((Hugs)))
Then you would be running to our church. You see when the pastor really gets going and the whole house is shaking God is in US. ;-0
Sounds like your saying you are worthy of being worshiped.
Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick with Jesus Christ.
The same way Stepinac lost his for rejoicing over the creation of the murderous state of Fascist Croatia in 1941.
Oh come on! You jumped in where K and I were just going back and forth and you are welcome to, but have a sense of humour.
Well now. I didn't know you were a furriner. :)
We do, we are just a little rough about it!
“Oh come on! You jumped in where K and I were just going back and forth and you are welcome to, but have a sense of humour.”
WF and I were just funnin’ FL. We do that between theological brickbats! :)
Sorry, but he was sounding just like some of our Western posters.

No, clearly there’s no spiritual credibility threatened in any way. And you just proved it.
“How sick, hypocritical and 4th Crusader of him!”
No, Kosovo would be more like the Greeks attacking Latins in the late 12th century - ethnically cleansing them from Constantinople. That sounds a lot more like what was done in Kosovo.

Actually, with the creation of an independent Croatia, fascist or not, Stepinac’s credbility went up because he was without question the leading Churchman in the country. The Orthodox who had supported the monarchy, then switched to the Nazis, then to the Communists who persecuted them - now, they lost credibility. Maybe if those Orthodox prelates hadn’t so overwhelmingly lent support to the Communists there would not have been a complete collapse of the Serb population in Kosovo. Maybe the “Serb heartland” would still really be Serb, but not likely if you’re dumb enough to trust Communists.
I'm not sure what you mean by Western posters. Just so you know, I'm a Born Again Christian and attend a Baptist Church.
“...more like the Greeks attacking Latins in the late 12th century - ethnically cleansing them from Constantinople.”
Ah, those were the days! No sissies, no limp wrists! :)
Life was simpler, eh?
;)
We do need some Christians with guts! I think the Kosovo mess is practically impossible to solve.
Very interesting, thank you for posting this.
Hey, I never read his responses. What good would it serve?
If a need paper worthy of a wipe, I can buy Charmin instead. Much better than ink jet printer paper.
