TONY BLAIR SAYS RELIGION MUST BE SAVED FROM EXTREMISM (Friday Church News Notes, April 11, 2008)

On April 3 former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said that religion must be saved from extremism. Blair’s speech was a part of “The Cardinal’s Lectures” at the Westminster Cathedral sponsored by Cormac Murphy O’Connor, the head of the Roman Catholic Church in England. Blair, who became a Catholic last year, said that religion must become the centerpiece of a program to solve the world’s problems. To do this, it must reject “extremism,” “exclusion,” and “strange convictions.” He was referring to Islamic terrorism, of course, but not only to Islam. Bible Christianity with its exclusive gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ is considered extremist and strange to globalists like Tony Blair and Mikhail Gorbachev. Those who believe that salvation is only in Jesus Christ and that the Bible is the sole revelation from God and that men are going either to heaven or to hell and that Jesus is coming back at any time to establish His kingdom are hindrances to the New Age globalist aspirations. Blair announced the formation of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, which will “bring together different faith organizations to foster friendship and understanding and harness people of faith as a force for good in the modern world.” He wants to help create a global interfaith “spirituality” that is tolerant, non-dogmatic, and dedicated to social-justice-environmentalist issues.

False prophets will come proclaiming peace and telling the flock to reject Christianity. Mohammed did it. The Religious Left is doing it.

How about NO.

This line alone pretty much negates his alleged conversion to Roman Catholicism! One has to wonder what drew him to Catholicism.

Wanna laugh, doc? Check out this stupid British blogger in resonse to the proposed 40,000 capacity Mosque (world’s largest, Saudi funded) to be built right next to Olympic Village for the 2012 games. They haven’t a CLUE what their in for, including Blair. Ignorance, in this case, is NOT bliss. (BTW, no one answered her) LOL!

I’m a Christian, why do they want to build a mosque here? If you carry a bible in their country, they will kill you. But why do they want to come and build a mosque in a christian country? If we were to build a church in the mist of them in their country, they would kill everyone who enters there. The christians in their country live in fear, so why should we except them? If people come and see a mosque in this country, they will think we are all Islamic. What about 9 11, are we on the same side as the people who caused it?-Then why are we supporting them? I have an 8 year old son and I brought him up in a Christian home, what will happen when he grows up-to his generation? Give me answers, and reply to me!

That it is, Doc. So very, very sad. I din’t mean to laugh at her. But there poor folks have no idea where their headed. This poor young woman does not have a clue.....and you can prolly times that by 25 million, or however many Christians are left there. The landscape of the world is shifting quickly & dramatically. I’m sure you’ve heard Islam just surpassed the RCC as the world’s largest religion.

The Brits have turned their back on God, and he’s turning his back on them. And we’re not too far behind. “In God We Trust” is the next one on “their” agenda.

God help them. (and US)

Blair’s wrong. The difference between dangerous and helpful religion isn’t whether it’s exclusive, extremist or has strange philosophies. The dividing line should be (1) whether the religion treats those who don’t accept that religion as inferior or second-class persons and (2) whether the religion has overt designs on obtaining political power to impose its beliefs on a nation as a whole. Meeting either of those two criteria should raise red flags. Meeting both ought to be defcon level.

Tony Blair is the last person who should presume to lecture on religion; he does not even adhere to the tenets of his own.

So, what is your specific disagreement with Cloud on the issue addressed in this news article? Or are you trying to say he has no business critiquing Blair because he doesn’t agree with your Catholic viewpoint of the world?

My specific disagreements with David Cloud can be read here. Note that I messed up on the "willfully sequesters" link in that post: a better link is here.

BWA HAHAHAHAHAHA!

"My Catholic viewpoint of the world"??? Excuse me...
