BXVI gets twice the attendance of JPII at his weekly audiences. Pope Benedict says profound things, and people come there not for his personality, but to hear what he is going to reveal to them. That’s why I think he is like Augustine or one of the other great teachers of the past. He’s not just a “personality.”
