Anti-Evolution Film Misappropriates the Holocaust

New York, NY, April 29, 2008 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today issued the following statement regarding the controversial film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.

The film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed misappropriates the Holocaust and its imagery as a part of its political effort to discredit the scientific community which rejects so-called intelligent design theory.

Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people and Darwin and evolutionary theory cannot explain Hitler's genocidal madness.

Using the Holocaust in order to tarnish those who promote the theory of evolution is outrageous and trivializes the complex factors that led to the mass extermination of European Jewry.

Following Germany’s defeat in World War I and during the ensuing political and economic crises of the Weimar Republic, ideas known as racial hygiene or eugenics began to inform population policy, public health education, and government-funded research. By keeping the “unfit” alive to reproduce and multiply, eugenics proponents argued, modern medicine and costly welfare programs interfered with natural selection –the concept Charles Darwin applied to the “survival of the fittest” in the animal and plant world. In addition, members of the “fit,” educated classes were marrying later and using birth control methods to limit family size. The result, eugenics advocates believed, was an overall biological “degeneration” of the population. As a solution, they proposed “positive” government policies such as tax credits to foster large, “valuable” families, and “negative” measures, mainly the sterilization of genetic “inferiors.”

For the record, I don't think Charles Darwin bears any blame for the murderous acts committed by the Nazi bastards.

However, I think it is impossible to argue against the fact that the Nazi's misappropriated Darwins theory to their own miserable ends. Moreover, I don't know why anybody would.

From what I read into it Hitler claimed that he was removing "subhumans" from the planet and every race that was not Aryan.

He believed that the Aryan race was put here to be over the "sub races" and this was gods work he was doing, none of which is Biblical in any form.

The Bible is clear we are of one blood

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Seems Hitler acted much like a person who believed in creation with evolution which is not Biblical either.

Hitler followed Darwin's thought process; The ADL folks should learn some history before they spout off.

Darwin uses the term "race" to denote subspecies - of anything from cattle to cabbages.

I understand that.
But the 2 ideas mesh in the sense that the Nazis were very concerned with racial purity and the idea of eliminating “inferior” genetics to “help along” the selection process.
The Holocaust Museum has some very good exhibits showing their ideas of “inferior genetics”
I'm sure that Darwin had no such ideas or desires.

A subtle, but important, point is that the phrase survival of the fittest came from Herbert Spencer - not Darwin.

That was the whole purpose of Margaret Sanger's involvement in the situation. Because she had been working to eliminate the "inferior" blacks here in the US by means of birth control and abortion the Nazis sought her help to help them eliminate the "inferior" Jews. (By the way, Sanger's desire came to be: a disproportionate number of the abortions in this country are to African American women)

The term applied is Social Darwinism. . . certainly not Darwin's goal, but he gets dragged into the mess anyways.

The vitriol that Ben Stein has endured for this movie, displays just how vacuous this quaint 19th century myth known as Darwinism or Evolution really is. In the final analysis… evolution is at its root, nothing but pure speculation.
