Michael Moore, Frank Rich, Jeremiah Wright and John Hagee
Jewish World Review ^ | 5/6/'08 | Dennis Prager

In more sophisticated language, The New York Times columnist Frank Rich also sought to dismiss the general outrage at Wright's racist and anti-American diatribes. In Rich's view, American society's outrage at Wright is but one more example of American racism. His proof? America is not as angry at a white pastor, the Rev. John Hagee, who has endorsed Sen. John McCain, as it is at Wright and his 20-year bond with Sen. Barack Obama.

In Rich's words, "Mr. Hagee's videos have never had the same circulation on television as Mr. Wright's. A sonorous white preacher spouting venom just doesn't have the telegenic zing of a theatrical black man. It is disingenuous to pretend that there isn't a double standard operating here. If we're to judge black candidates on their most controversial associates — and how quickly, sternly and completely they disown them — we must judge white politicians by the same yardstick."

Thus, according to Rich, Hagee is just as worthy of censure as Wright; and McCain's relationship to Hagee is equivalent to Obama's relationship to Wright.

Finally someone else speaks out on the supreme hypocrisy of liberal Jews defending the Catholic Church from charges of anti-Semitism when those charges come from a white Southern Fundamentalist preacher!

Umm, Mr. Rich...it's called "the Internet." Everybody has access to any of this stuff. Moron.

You mean the hypocrisy of fopish , poofter theater critics who work for the NYT. There are plenty of “liberal Jews” with second thoughts about this black liberational, simmering furtive anti-Semite Barry O’Bama and his cohort of radical agitators. One thing many Jews of all stripes know, and its that it matters who you hang out with . And Empty Suitma hangs out with the flotsam, literally.

Did not Mr. McCain leave Mr. Hagee’s church some number of years ago? If that’s so, there’s no comparison.

But then, Mr. Rich is full of advice for how the rest of us should live our religious lives.

He probably prays to the tooth fairy.

I don’t like Hagee, but Rich has real discernment problems. There is a vast difference between the rantings of a nut you are not close to versus the spoutings of a nut you’ve been close to for 20 years.

I don't believe McCain ever attended Hagee's church (except maybe once to give a speech or something).

I believe you are correct (I could check the Internet real quickly - but I'm lazy ... albeit, I'm not paid like Frank Rich to pump out articles - so he has no excuse). I'm pretty sure Mr. Hagee is based in Texas, whereas Mr. McCain obviously splits time between Washington DC and Arizona. There is no way that Mr. McCain is a member of Mr. Hagee's church. Perhaps he has voiced or provided some support, or acknowledgment of Mr. Hagee in the past, but Mr. McCain is not member of Mr. Hagee's church.

Hagee and McCain share a symbiotic relationship that has nothing to do with church membership. Hagee believes he has a Christian Zionist-style ally in McCain, and McCain no doubt gets a large influx of cash when he appears in the San Antonio church.

And he's a nut why? Because he believes the Bible is true and not a collection of myths and parables? Or because he is "anti-Catholic?"

I believe Mr. Prager dispatched that second charge in this article. Besides, anti-Catholics aren't considered "nuts" so long as they aren't white Southern Fundamentalists.

Because he believes the 'whore of Babylon' is the Catholic Church. He puts his own spin on scripture, and some of it is quite nutty.

So you're agreeing with me that trying to compare the relationship between McCain and Hagee to Obama and Wright is stupid.

Thanks.

"Because he believes the 'whore of Babylon' is the Catholic Church. He puts his own spin on scripture, and some of it is quite nutty."

The Bible's pretty clear that Babylon is Jerusalem, don't you think? Will be interesting if the U.N. ever moves there. I believe that it has been proposed to make Jerusalem an 'international city' as a way to end the Jew/Moslem/Christian conflict over it.

Revelation 11:8 - "Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified."

Revelation 18:10 - "Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry: " 'Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, city of power! In one hour your doom has come!'"

The key is linking the term 'great city' used of both Jerusalem and Babylon. There are more verses than these, but that is the main idea. It also ties together the idea of the earthly 'great whore' Jerusalem with the heavenly 'Bride of Christ' New Jerusalem.

The whole point of the article (which you obviously did not take the time to read) is that Pastor Hagee does not teach that the Catholic Church is the "whore of Babylon." But if your prejudices against Fundamentalist Protestants are so dear to you I don't expect you to change them over a thing so trifling as the truth.

I take it you regard either accepting the facticity of the Bible, or else taking the prophecies at their obvious, non-chr*stological face value (and thus being pro-Jewish) is "nutty."

Actually, reading J*sus into the TaNa"KH is quite nutty.

Yep, that Jesus was a nut job.

55 Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, 'I do not know Him,' I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." 57 Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." 59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. (John 8)
He also said:

34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matt. 12)

I've heard him say it, but it's been awhile. Maybe he doesn't say it any more. (That's a good thing, as it is only his view and not evident in scripture.)

But if your prejudices against Fundamentalist Protestants are so dear. . .

LOL Honey, I am a fundamentalist protestant. You shouldn't make assumptions when you have no knowledge on which to base them.

Come back when you can stop jerking your knee. ;)
