(Cardinal) George Temporarily Removes Pfleger From St. Sabina
CBS2 Chicago ^ | 6/3/2008 | n/a

CBS 2 News has learned that Francis Cardinal George is temporarily removing Father Michael Pfleger from his position as pastor of St. Sabina Roman Catholic Church on Chicago's South Side.

CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports the move comes after several days of deliberation and consultation by the Cardinal, who first learned about Pfleger's racially charged comments about Sen. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton from the pulpit of Trinity Unity Church of Christ last Thursday night.

The Cardinal immediately contacted Pfleger who agreed not to refer to the presidential candidates by name, but as CBS 2 reported at the time, there remained the possibility of some further disciplinary action against Pfleger.

The Cardinal reportedly spoke to Pfleger again this morning.

A spokesman for the archdiocese would neither confirm nor deny action had been taken to remove Pfleger. Another spokesman said she expected to have some announcement later today.

Indications are that another Chicago priest would take over at St. Sabina, while plans for the permanent reassignment of Father Pfleger, who's been there far longer than is customary in the archdiocese, would be accelerated....

Last time they tried to re-locate him to another parish he rallied his parishioners to petition for him to stay.
And, he won.

He’s absolutely disgusting.

With all due respect, what have I done to warrant a warning? I haven’t lied; aren’t I allowed to defend my position? Regardless, this is my final post on this thread.

Poor Fleegle got a little too big for his britches.

I’m sure his ego won’t let him get transfered. He’ll quit, become a Trinity momma and wear black face.

FDR threatened to charge Coughlin with treason if his Cardinal didn’t cancel his radio program. Coughlin was ordered to shut up.

Coughlin didn’t understand that Pearl Harbor rendered his pro-Fascist position untenable.

Pleased? O'Reilly probably has convinced himself that Cardinal George took the step only because O'Reilly called for it.

And my guess is that he'll tell us so tonight.

They can do it without Vatican approval or knowledge.

I don’t want him reassigned. I want him defrocked.

If he’s reassigned elsewhere, he’ll end up just corrupting another parish.

The Gospel today was from Mark:

“Render to Caesar what is Caesar, and to God what is God’s.”

The meditation in the Magnificat was from Saint Augustine and was magnificent. The Saint pondered as to how the world looks on a man to find the image of Caesar, while God looks on a man to find His image...

Think that was a coincidence, Friends?

In 1981, Pfleger adopted an eight-year-old son, Lamar, in defiance of Cardinal John Patrick Cody who had threatened to fire him if he went ahead with the adoption.

Lamar graduated from college and got a job with Continental Airlines, which he lost after the September 11, 2001 attacks. He subsequently enlisted in the United States Army.

In 1992, Pfleger adopted another son, Beronti, who currently attends the University of Central Florida.

In 1997, Pfleger became the foster father to Jarvis Franklin, who was killed by stray gunfire on May 30, 1998.

I saw this on Wikipedia. Never heard this before...

Actually I think the Archdiocese needs to book Pfleger into a long series of seminars on diversity and racial tolerance. I think he's got some problems in that area.

>>>>>Knock it off. Homosexual predator priests have been removed from their parishes by the boat-load over the years—as they should be.

As a Catholic, I have to make a point of fact here.

The priests were not removed voluntarily by Bishops or Cardinals. The priests were arrested and were in custody of the state. In fact, most pedophile priests have not been excommunicated and still draw pensions.

For decades, Cardinals and Bishops knew there was abuse taking place and just shuttled the problem priests among different parishes causing more victims.

Had the problem been taken care earlier by RCC leadership, hundreds of parishes and Catholic schools around the country would not have to close to fund lawsuit payments.

Father Michael Pfleger reminds me of Eminem, the Whitey who acts like a Black Rapper.

I've never heard a white Catholic priest speak-uh like he was-uh, ah say-uh, Foghorn-uh Leggggg-horn until Pfleger's little blackface routine.
