Web Site Offers to Send Post-Rapture E-Mails to Friends 'Left Behind'
Fox News ^ | June 05, 2008

A new Web site is offering a miraculous service — e-mails sent to loved ones left behind on Earth after you've been swept up to heaven in the Rapture.

YouveBeenLeftBehind.com promises to alert up to 62 people exactly six days after the event that, according to the Bible, signals the beginning of Armageddon, Wired magazine's Threat Level reports.

"You've Been Left Behind gives you one last opportunity to reach your lost family and friends for Christ," the site promoting the service says.

Final e-mails from vanished subscribers will be triggered when three of the site's five Christian staffers fail to log in for six days in a row.

The site, the brainchild of Mark Heard, charges $40 a year for the service, which also includes 150 megabytes of encrypted storage space, recommended for financial information, Threat Level reports.

"In the encrypted portion of your account you can give them access to your banking, brokerage, hidden valuables and powers of attorneys," the site says.

"There won't be any bodies, so probate court will take seven years to clear your assets to your next of kin. Seven years, of course, is all the time that will be left," it explains. "So, basically the Government of the Antichrist gets your stuff, unless you make it available in another way."

According to Christian theology, after the Rapture, Satan will rule a global government that will torment doubters with seven years of Tribulation.

Heard told Threat Level that he already has paying subscribers.

Is this site hosted in Nigeria, by any chance?

This is a good idea, since I do worry that some of my friends and family will not be joining me.

Of course, at least one person from this company does have to commit to staying behind.

say what you want but I think it’s a good idea too. I had about 4 names come to mind when I read it.

Of course, at least one person from this company does have to commit to staying behind.

Already thought of. Every staffer is assigned a different vice from a different theological system that they must commit, each day, and remain unrepentent until the end of their shift - the thinking being that if the rapture comes THAT day, at least one of them won't be raptured due to the vice committed.

For example, one staffer takes sips from a can of Budweiser before he starts his shift. Another watches a PG-13 or higher rated movie. A third does the Lambada for 20 seconds. Someone might eat meat on Friday, or Canadian bacon for breakfast. Yet another draws a card from a deck of swear words, and utters the randomly chosen expletive out loud. Another might come to work wearing white after Labor Day. And so on...

Of course, at least one person from this company does have to commit to staying behind.

The system is designed so that the e-mails will be sent automatically if and when three of the site's five Christian staffers scattered around the US, fails to log in for six days in a row. The system incorporates a margin of safety, should two of the proprietors turn out to be unsaved.

I hate to say it, but a pragmatic view of the current “rapture” interpretation would indicate that it is hubris to think that you will be a member of the only generation in the history of mankind and the earth who will not have to personally sample death in all it’s kaleidescope of colors. Believe me I wish that was not the case but I grew up with probably 20 sure fire rapture dates. Now in my 40’s and watching my parents grow old I just think we are probably mis interpreting something in Danial or Revelation. Just sayin.

It does feel like the end is near. I predict within 50 years, could be the next 5 years, but 100 tops.

How is that for hedging?

This is only for Dispensational Premillennialist. Amillennialists and postmillennialists need not apply (but then again there are those who consider them heretics) :~)

My first thoughts, too. Not applying, here.

My second thought was, "where is the arguing?" Though, I decided long ago that it wasn't worth arguing if not edifying. Soooo... (end transmission)
