Ted Haggard's back - silently for the moment
Rocky Mountain News ^ | June 23, 2008 | Mark Wolf

Ted Haggard is back in Colorado Springs.

It sits behind a gated entrance on 5.1 acres two miles from the 14,000-member megachurch Haggard originally founded in his basement.

He was asked to leave in late 2006 after admitting to unspecified "sexual immorality."

The confession came after he first denied knowing a former male prostitute from Denver who claimed Haggard paid him for sex nearly every month for three years.

He was named one of the 25 most influential evangelicals in the nation by Time magazine in 2005.

After his ouster, Haggard was given a severance package that paid his salary through the end of 2007.

The magazine reported that he was among "a handful of Christian conservatives" who participated in weekly teleconferences with the White House to help plan conservative strategy on gay rights, abortion and other social issues.

So, like? Ted Haggard answered his doorbell?

Too bad the author, Mark Wolf, can't write a simple declarative.

Doh. What am I thinking? that would be called journalism and this guy's probably a highly sophisticated opinion stylist.

I’m guessing that Ted is about to stage a return to the church....with thirty percent of the church likely to pack up and leave when he returns. Its a political year....and he’s likely to play a major role in national politics....just my guess. He’s a loser....at least in my mind....but considering the rest of the crowd....he’s just an average guy.

My guess is that George Carlin isn’t concerned about Ted Haggard anymore.

And, as far as I’m concerned, if Haggard hasn’t made any attempts to get back in the public eye, this columnist shouldn’t be that concerned either.

Just my $0.02.

“Ted’s all better now.”

you forgot the (/s) - I hope.

I’m all about forgiveness. I hope he’s got it all sorted out.
however, given the damage done, I don’t believe he should be in a leadership position again.

He should announce that he is a democrat and supporting B.O. Then all will be forgiven by the press and any mention of his homosexual prostitute affair will be attacked by the MSM as “gay bashing” and “homophobia.”

he’s likely to play a major role in national politics
_______

just can’t see that happening this election cycle. Who would claim him as one of his own? Who could he align himself with?

Can’t see the ‘religious right’ embracing him any more than I could see anyone on the ‘left’ embracing him.

He is thoroughly disgraced, which is the appropriate punishment for him.
