.- In anticipation of the beginning of the Pauline Year next Saturday, the Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff announced today that celebrations of the Apostle will commence with Vespers.
The Roman basilica of St. Paul's Outside-the-Walls will host the celebration of first Vespers at 6 p.m. on Saturday June 28, which is the eve of the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul.
Pope Benedict XVI will preside at the Vespers ceremony to launch the Pauline Year. The ceremony will be attended by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I and by representatives of other Churches and Christian communities.

The Vatican has set up a web site with detailed information on the history of the saint, the basilica and the Pauline year events.
A most beautiful church with a wonderful interior and exterior. Very interesting to see the papal medallions for each pope. Privileged to ahve visited and prayed there.
Here's an icon for Sunday's Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul.
Looks appropriate since the Ecumenical Patriarch will be with the Holy Father.
Beautiful icon. Thank you for posting it. Be sure to visit the link above - there is a wealth of information.

This is wonderful! The Program looks so interesting.
Thanks, Martin
Our priest took a group to visit Greece and Turkey and visit the places where St. Paul went. He will be doing presentations on it soon.
If you live on the west coast — this would be worth your while.
The year of Pauline begins next Saturday and my Aunt Pauline passed away yesterday.
Thank you for that link! It would be interesting to build a catechetical program around this for the children in our parish - and even the adults!
Patriarch of Constantinople: Homily, Creed, and Blessing together with the PopeFrom the Holy See Press Office - Office of Papal Liturgical Celebrations:
Holy Mass of Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles, presided by the Holy Father Benedict XVI, with the participation of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I
On Sunday, June 29, 2008, Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles, the Holy Father Benedict XVI will celebrate the Eucharist, at 9:30, in the Vatican Basilica, with the participation of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I.
The Ecumenical Patriarch and the Holy Father will deliver the Homily, jointly recite the profession of faith [Creed], and impart the blessing.
The new Metropolitan Archbishops, on whom the Pontiff will impose the holy Pallium taken from the Confessio of the Apostle Peter, will concelebrate with the Holy Father.
What Creed will be used? Without the Filioque - as in Dominus Iesus, 1?
“What Creed will be used? Without the Filioque - as in Dominus Iesus, 1?”
I have no doubt but that it will be without the Filioque. The use of the word “participation” is interesting as is the fact that the EP and the Pope will recite the Creed together. This is the clearest sign that neither church regards the other as heretical. I don’t know what it says about the schism. Certainly there can be a schism within The Church notwithstanding complete agreement on matters of The Faith...but the EP and Moscow weren’t reciting the Creed together when there was a break in communion a few years back and it is only now since the reunion of Moscow and most of the ROCOR parishes that there is communion between the ROCOR hierarchs and those of the Ecumenical Throne.
