NEW DELHI: With Democrat senator Barack Obama busy in the run-up to the US presidential polls, a group of well-wishers in the capital have decided to send him a symbol of his lucky charm, Lord Hanuman, to help him emerge victorious.
Obama's representative Carolyn Sauvage-Mar on Tuesday received a gold-plated two-feet-high idol which she will pass it on to the Obama after it is sanctified.
The idol is being presented to Obama as he is reported to be a Lord Hanuman devotee and carries with him a locket of the monkey god along with other good luck charms.
An hour-long prayer meeting to sanctify the idol was earlier organised at Sankat Mochan Dham and by Congress leader Brijmohan Bhama, Balmiki Samaj and the temple's priests.
"Obama has deep faith in Lord Hanuman and that is why we are presenting an idol of Hanuman to him," said Bhama.
Accepting the souvenir, Sauvage-Mar, who is chairperson of Democrats Abroad-India, said, "Obama has extended his thanks for the support."
However, questions on Obama's religious beliefs elicited just a smile from Sauvage-Mar, apparently to avoid controversy back home where the Democrat senator is pitted against the Republican Party's John McCain in the Presidential polls.
The idol will be kept at the temple for 11 more days and then sent to US.
"We will perform the prayers for 11 days and then hand the idol to Carolyn who will send it to Obama," said the temple priest.
Obamacan Idol
The Monkey God.
Oh, this is rich. I'm LOL here. A monkey god with a monkey's ass for a mouth.
LOLOLOL.
This ought to be Barack's new seal.
All Hail Lord Barack - The Moneky God!

Is giving Obama a monkey racist?
I know monkeys , I have worked with monkeys , monkeys are friends of mine . I can tell you Obambi is no monkey . Monkeys believe in private property , and will resist to the death the involuntary redistribution of the aforementioned monkey property .
Regardless of their religious beliefts, many times political figures will receive gifts from foreign countries which could be described as religious in nature. Any gift given earnestly by honest people - whatever their beliefs may be - should be accepted in a like manner, earnestly and honestly. As a Christian, such a gift should be accepted as a symbol of the hopes and aspirations of the giver, and should be put in a public place in honor of the *givers*, not a personal place in honor of the *gift*. Honoring the giver - not the gift - takes it out of the realm of idolatry and puts it in the realm of gratitude.
Such is the nature of diplomacy and dealings on a national level, and we have a sign here of how Barak Obama deals with gifts; everything to him personal, a reflection of himself.
Instead of earnestly and honestly accepting this gift, this gift was accepted in secret through a proxy by a back way. This speaks volumes about Obama’s character, and it is not good.
Monkey? That looks like a woman with a cow’s tail.
"Hello... Hanuman." < /seinfeld >
BARACK OBAMA, the 46-year-old Illinois senator, who emerged victorious in an epic 17-month long electoral battle for Democratic party nomination, by defeating his rival Hillary Clinton, carries a tiny monkey god with him for good luck. It apparently represents Lord Hanuman.
A recent photo posted on Times White House Photo of the Day collection shows that Obama carries with him a bracelet belonging to an American soldier deployed in Iraq, a gamblers lucky chit, a tiny monkey god and a tiny Madonna and child.
Obama must think that we misinterpret the 10 Commandments too:
Do not have any other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
It is not only Obama, who carries such lucky mascots. Republican candidate John McCain carries a lucky nickel, and a lucky rubber band, which he wears around his wrist, apart from a lucky penny. He also has a lucky sweater and a lucky hotel room in New Hampshire. The information was revealed by the caption on his photo.I realize we're selecting a President and not a pastor, however I would sure like to have a President that follows the faith that they attest to.
Sheesh! Maybe he is the Antichrist after all.
Sheesh! Maybe he is the Antichrist after all.
A lot of people are starting to wonder.
The monkey symbolism of Lord Hanuman is related to the notion that a human being's mind is ever active and never restful, hence the depiction of a human being with the face of a monkey. Furthermore, Lord Hanuman symbolically stands for pure devotion, complete surrender and absence of ego or the lower self. As the son of Vayu, symbolically he also stands for the subtle body consisting of the breath body, the mental body and the intelligence body. Here we explain Hanuman as the mental body in a human being.
The mind, being ever fickle, jumps from place to place, obtaining everything in its path and engaging in numerous activities that brings no peace to the surroundings. The mind can travel to any place and fly anywhere and cross to other parts of the world such is the power of the mind.
The mind can also expand or contract, and if it remains under the control of animal passions and sensory activities, it will become instable and devious. Hence, the mind of Hanuman is always under this fluctuation.
However, once surrendering occurs to the inner self and the mind becomes devoted unconditionally, the mind can obtain miraculous powers and perform stupendous feats like that of Lord Hanuman. When one's mind reaches this state in working for the divine, it helps the lower self (Sita) and Soul (Rama) to come together and become united.
The more and more that comes out about Obama, the more creeped out I become. The man carries a monkey god charm and gets presented with a golden idol for goodness sake ... too weird. He is to purported to have the ability to lower sea levels and fix people’s souls as well.
We need to get a reaction from Farrakhan and his bow ties.
Well, I've heard of worshiping the almighty dollar, but never a nickel ; )
If somebody had written a novel with a character like Obama and a plot describing his attempt to take over the United States, I would never have believed it - until now. And it’s not a novel, unfortunately.
sounds like a movie: “damn you dirty apes!”
That is rich, Obama carries a Monkey God charm around with him, too funny.

An Indian Hindu priest performs prayers in front of a statue of the Hindu god Hanuman.

Hanuman?
Wait for it....
"This is not the Lord Hanuman I knew."
That would be a huldra.
Norwegian forest elf, usually a very pretty lady, except for the tail . . .

A tactful young man was dancing with a (disguised) huldra at a party one time and noticed that her tail was showing. He whispered quietly to her, "Your garter has come untied, lady." She was grateful for his discretion and gave him good luck all his days.
“Hanuman is a winged monkey”
Ah, a supporter of Mrs. Obama.
“Hello...Hanuman.”
ROLFL!
"The Obama". I like the way that plays. Let's use it.
The Obama...
How very Pagan of him.
1 John 5:21
“Dear, children, keep yourselves from idols.”
(Mentor Ole “Rev.” Wright must have skipped over that part of scripture.)
I do not know if Obama is a Lord Hanuman devotee and would not assume the article is right on that matter. But unless it is accepted only as a cultural artificat Obama should reject receiving this token.
Today marked the first time that a Hindu deity was thrown under the bus by the Barack Obama campaign, joining the ever-growing crowd there clinging to the greasy undercarriage, including Obama's pastor, his own Grandmother, Louis Farrakhan, Hamas, Father Pfleger, billions of Muslims, radical black liberationists and the majority of the white race. It is widely rumored that Obama will soon need to abandon the heavily-laden bus in favor of a hybrid Prius, in which he will not allow anyone else to ride or to speak until November.
The Obama...
More like ... The Obamanation.
And the elderly hulk coming to fight.

Well, THAT throws a monkey wrench in Obambi’s pursuit of the Christian vote.
Christians are not supposed to accept idols or to eat food sacrified to idols lest the pagans come to believe that Christians think such beliefs and behavior are OK.
Otherwise this stuff won't hurt you. Presumably Obama already has sufficient numbers of devotees that he has someone on his staff who knows where to put these things.
Now, are Hindus "idol worshippers"? Or, do they use statues to represent "saints" (people who lived praiseworthy lives while manifest on Earth in a particular persona), and as memnonics to "inform and counsel" millions of people who have the misfortune of living in an illiterate society?
Buddha asked all these questions and more.
Sure took care of the statue problem for the Buddhists didn't it?!
Wouldn't put money on that. Those guys think everybody operates in the same sort of symbolic logic that they do when it comes to religion.
Obama's momma didn't raise him to grow up to be no Hindu, of that I'm sure!
The problem here is that he might end up as President, and the giver might end up as Prime Minister (remember the guy who drank his urine?).
There's absolutely no need to pick a fight over such a common happenstance.
could you please tell me which scripture in God's Word you got that from ?
That’s not a monkey god. It’s a pussy cat god.
Don't believe it. Monkeys are fun. Monkeys come into the village and steal stuff. Monkeys throw feces at each other and at people.
This is in the religion forum? Does that mean I have to be Hindi to post on this thread?
This election is a lot like a Marvel Comic isn’t it? Is Hildebeast really finished or will she come back in a later chapter?
