STATEMENT ON THE GLOBAL ANGLICAN FUTURE

Praise the LORD! It is good to sing praises to our God; for he is gracious, and a song of praise is fitting. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. (Psalm 147:1-2)

Brothers and Sisters in Christ: We, the participants in the Global Anglican Future Conference, send you greetings from Jerusalem!

Introduction

The Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON), which was held in Jerusalem from 22-29 June 2008, is a spiritual movement to preserve and promote the truth and power of the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ as we Anglicans have received it.

Amen! No more need to cross the Tiber, or even flee to Augsburg (join the Lutheran church, as I did). Gafcon, send your priests here, and build a new Anglican church in America.

This is such a telling statement per news release:

“It also signals the move of most of the world’s practicing Anglicans into a post-colonial reality, where the Archbishop of Canterbury is recognized for his historic role, but not as the only arbiter of what it means to be Anglican.”

The Archbishop has no biblical conviction worth printing. Biblical Anglicans will lean upon the Word of God alone for their definition of “Christian ethics.”

Rowan Williams thought his balancing act would save the Communion. Now, he’s lost everything and doesn’t seem to have any ability or reserve within him to do anything even at this late date to save the role of Canterbury. The best he can do now is resign.

The truly godly prevailed patiently and according to the Scriptures. Sometimes believers don’t see their efforts genuinely blessed in this life; they must wait till heaven to see their fullness. But these ones have now seen God bring down His smile upon their consecrated efforts.
