“On his website, one of his acolytes/fans/lackeys suggested precisely that as the method of desecration.”
Shows the depth of the commenter’s intellect. Is he fixated on ejaculation?

As I said in one of the previous threads about the UCF student stealing the wafer, the best way for Roman Catholics to respond to this sort of behavior is to roll their eyes and then ignore it, confident that God is sovereign over the Eucharist.
But I’m only a Protestant, so what do I know? Everybody can continue foaming at the mouth and giving Myers exactly what he wants.

The professor should be fired. *****************
I wasn't sure this was not an overreaction until I saw post #54. This man's behaviour would not have been tolerated by previous generations. It is simply unacceptable in a civilized society.

I'll bet that if I spent five minutes with this freak, I could zero in on the articles of his sacred faith...Godless liberalism.
...and drive him over the edge with my version of counter-sacrilege.
Burn his ego in effigy?

Everybody can continue foaming at the mouth and giving Myers exactly what he wants.Actions speak louder than words. If we act like we don't believe what we believe, we are acting hypocritically.

Hey, he's just being consistent in his non-literalism. Too bad so many Catholics refuse to understand this.
Please don't hijack this thread.
I didn't mean to "hijack" the thread, which was not caucused. I sincerely and honestly consider inconsistency in literalism to be highly relevant to this thread, especially considering the nature of this professor's blog.
Maybe Catholics will wake up now and break their silence on the issue of scientism and evolution.
And for the record, this guy is a hypocrite and a jerk of the first water. I hope no one thought I was justifying him.

"Well this professor is pretty much shown himself to be an intollerant racist"Are you saying Roman Catholics are a race, or am I missing something?
To: Petronski; All
From his bio, here is the obvious animus of his actions:
He is a public critic of intelligent design (ID) and of the creationist movement in general, and is an activist in the American creation-evolution controversy.
Methinks his issues run a little deeper - they usually do. He'd love somebody to fire back on his presenting issues, but a little friendly 'getting to know you' chat would probably yield higher grade ore for . . . discussion. This kind is a blowhard and is spoiling for a fight - on his turf.

I was just applying the standards that would have been applied to him if, say, he had threatened to desecrate the Koran, or, maybe posted a picture of an aborted baby on his website, or used the ‘n’ word or maybe the ‘q’ word in a derogatory fashion.
Post 54 just confirmed my opinion

Someone Else just might have words with him, ones with eternal ramifications. We should pray that he will repent.

"Actions speak louder than words. If we act like we don't believe what we believe, we are acting hypocritically."But you guys sure are using a lot of words.
With all due respect, you ACT as though you believe this guy could actually strike some sort of blow against a sovereign God with his crude grandstanding...which I certainly hope you don't.
To: Pyro7480
Oh, give me a break ZC. Theres nothing defensible about this guy.No there isn't, and I am not defending him.
Maybe now you will understand what it feels like to have one's beliefs in a six day creation, the Flood, the Tower of Babel, or the ancients living nine hundred years made fun of.
I notice that "indigenous pipples" never have their religious beliefs mocked by liberals.

Clearly this professor is a vile and disgusting person, however this is what you get when you imbue the "host" with such import, and confuse the spiritual with the physical. (I mean, if the church catches fire, does the Lord burn?)
In my completely uncatholicized opinion, the wafer becomes the "body of Christ" in the spirit of the giving and the taking. Otherwise it's just a wafer.

You might remember P.Z. Myers from the movie 'Expelled'. He made a huge fuss claiming that the filmmakers got him to do the interview under false pretenses.
Kinda ironic that he now wants to get a communion wafer using false pretenses.

You have shamed yourself with that post.Which one? I shame myself with so many.
If you're referring to my initial post on his consistent non-literalism, I'm sorry you feel that way. It is simply galling to hear evolutionists and higher critics suddenly and arbitrarily become "fundies" on some issues.
And for the record, I'm on your side on this issue.

Apparently, except for the intentional desecration part, you agree with this jackass.

There’s a lot Catholic haters on FreeRepublic. A couple of obsessive compulsive types who seem to sppend all of their free time hunting up and posting every anti-Catholic screed they can find. I pity them.

You might be right, but I still suspect our boy-o has deeper roots than whatever philosophies he picked up in his academic life. Maybe he was rogered by some errant priest - who knows? This kind of guy, though, is a deliberate spoiler and his motives are emotional - a thirst for revenge?
