Evangelical pastor Joel Osteen defended his wife and co-pastor of the renowned Lakewood Church in a Houston court room Friday, testifying that she did not assault a flight attendant in 2005.
Victoria Osteen has been sued by Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown, who claims the pastor assaulted her shortly before the start of a 2005 flight to Vail, Colorado, over discontent with her seat.
Victoria Osteen, 47, claims she did not assault Brown.
Her husband Joel Osteen was called as a witness Friday and he testified before the jury that Victoria did not assault Sharon Brown because there was a small spill on her seat.
Osteen also said his wife never raised her voice nor did she touch the flight attendants.
The previous day, Maria Johnson, a flight attendant who had been on the plane at the time of the alleged incident, testified that Victoria Osteen demanded that the small spill be cleaned up and then became verbally and physically abusive when that did not happen as rapidly as she wished it to.
Johnson said Victoria Osteen grabbed Brown by the shoulders, elbowed her in the chest and pushed her away as she tried to reach the cockpit.
Joel Osteen denied Johnsons accusations but later admitted he could not hear his wifes voice from where he was seated nor could he see.
He also denied Browns assertion that Victoria Osteen was asked to leave the plane by the flight crew and that instead he and his family left voluntarily.
The Federal Aviation Administration fined Victoria Osteen $3,000 for interfering with a crew member. The flight was also delayed because of the incident.
Sharon Brown is asking for an apology and punitive damages amounting to 10 percent of Victoria Osteens net worth. She is also seeking counseling expenses.
Thou shalt not bear false witness mr. Olsteen! Besides the accuser is just asking for a tithe.
Things you'll never see:

10% of her net worth because of being elbowed???
That has absolutely nothing to do with the so-called damages claimed. If she was bruised, then pay the med bills for the bruise, but beyond that, why exactly should this woman receive 10% of someone’s net worth?
Now we know why Christ never married.
“Do you know who I am?!”
The medical and counseling expenses, as well as long wages if any, of the flight attendant were covered by workmans compensation insurance.
Why isn’t the insurance company doing the suing, they are the one’s who suffered financially in regards to this alleged event?
This particular case just doesn’t seem like it would pass the smell test, on its face.
I’m not aware of even any allegations of Joel or his wife being a dry drunk. Did I miss something?
There fixed it.
*******************
What does the fact that she is black have to do with this?
In a news report I heard Friday, Brown had filed a similar suit against a passenger two years ago.
I suspect theres more to the story...although if true she wouldn’t be the first evangelist wife to throw her weight around and at anyway but humble...and the flight attendant not the first to take advantage of a celebrity..
do we have a photo of her?
Of whom?
I wasn’t aware of any such thing either.
his wife
Why?
Because I don’t really remember her as I do not watch the show much.
Was it against another passenger or another flight attendant?
Was it against another passenger or another flight attendant?

Maybe she just had a pre-menopausal moment..
It’s a ridiculous lawsuit......the attendant said she rec’d hemmroids..I say give her a years worth of Preperation h!
I’ve never seen the show, except for about 30 seconds or so once while I was channel surfing.
it’s a tithe? lol
I dunno. Sounds like they’re all opportunists trying to take advantage of the ignorant. Well we KNOW Osteens are!
ha!
Osteen’s power of positive thinking message really gets me down.
ping!
I didn’t do NOTHING wrong! trust me! I’m a trophy wife!
The fact that the airline flight attendant is suing for 10% of Mrs. Osteen’s personal wealth is a great way to make them produce financial records. And the 10% “tithing” rate is a stroke of genius.
Well, I think Ms. Brown just saw an opportunity to make herself some money. I hope she gets NADA and has to pay all her own expenses.
No you don’t terriergal. That’s only your opinion.
No you don’t terriergal. That’s only your opinion.
Sorry, I would say in a heart beat that she is capable of going off on someone... She does not strike me to be a Mrs Billy Graham.. or Mrs Jimmy Swaggert for that matter... and let me tell you, she was a Saint.
This lady does not have the heart of her husband...
Sorry, that’s just my take on this..
I’d say, she’s guilty...
Then you are taking the side of a woman who claims that because she was elbowed in the chest, that she developed hemorrhoids.
If there is a liar in this case, it is the plaintiff.
Rotflol!!
I believe that lawsuits are a necessary thing in a just society. It provides a legitimate way for important differences of opinion to be settled.
However, there is nothing just in any court granting ridiculous awards to any party. Awards truly should be based on actual damages. And while there might be a place for punitive awards, those awards should not go to the accuser. They should go into a fund to alleviate the real suffering of others who've suffered in a similar way. Such a fund should have an executor who is paid merely a real wage for such a service.
This lawsuit is CRAP.
LOL
