A few short weeks ago, several thousand Christians from around the nation joined together on the Mall in Washington DC for a single day of prayer and fasting!
Yesterday, Senator McCain picked Governor Palin, a conservative Christian who has now excited and energized his campaign, for his VP pick!
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places, EPH 6:12.
This is not the time for the church to sit back and relax! We need to continue the good fight!
Sept 28 to Oct 4 is a time to continue in prayer and fasting! Please consider setting time aside that week to pray for our nation and fast if you can!
The church is making a difference! God bless you!prayer
You have articulated very well what has been on my mind, also.
I have been so angry and pessimistic about politics the past few months. I pray regularly that God will help me let go of my anger, and trust in His will and his guidance. I know I should, you see, but it’s a hard thing for me to do, personally.
Like you, I sense that the McCain campaign is moving in the right direction with the selection of Gov. Palin — and, like you, I see God’s hand at work.
God bless you for your post.
Prayers sent!
Yes, God has delivered us...
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 1 Chronicles 7:14
Hallelujah!
A lot of churches and Christians have committed to joining together that week! It is so easy to be overcome by all that we are seeing and hearing everyday in the news! There are a lot of things we cannot do in life, but we can all get on our knees and pray! God has said, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16 If you'd like to join us, leave a comment or contact through the website. We want as many states represented in the week of prayer as possible, so let us know what state you are from!
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19
Joan Rosenhauer, Associate Director for the USCCBs Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development, said that the special novena is part of the bishops campaign to help Catholics develop well-formed consciences for addressing political and social questions. The bishops issued their statement on forming consciences for faithful citizenship in November 2007.
Helen Osman, USCCB Secretary of Communications, expressed hope that the novena could help Catholics enter into prayerful reflection as they prepare to vote. Seventy-one percent of all visitors to the USCCBs web site download the free podcasts of the daily NAB readings. These same visitors are encouraged to use the novena podcast for prayer. Osman said that the USCCB wants to support Catholics as they weigh pre-election issues and that providing a prayer resource on the Web can help us focus on our common values and identity as Catholics. The novena emphasizes the dignity of life, justice, and peace.
The Novena for Faithful Citizenship runs for nine days and can be used consecutively, one day each week, for nine days prior to the election, or in any way that works best for a community or individual, said Rosenhauer.
The novena will be available for download until the election and it can be downloaded online at http://www.faithfulcitizenship.org/resources/podcasts.

All-Night Eucharistic Adoration commencing on the eve of the election led by the Bishops of every See in the nation in their Cathedrals is a objective worthy of our efforts.
The All-Night Eucharistic Adoration Template just below is in "Microsoft Word" format. You can download and alter it to suit the details of All-night Eucharistic Adoration at your Diocesan Cathedral.
Please approach your Bishop politely and respectfully. If he is unable to lead for whatever reason, perhaps he would be willing to assign leadership to an Auxiliary or other Clergyman who would represent him.
Please don't assume someone else in your diocese will take care of this. Frequently the number of request made will impact the decision of a Bishop. God bless Margaret Marino. OCDS for both the idea and the template.

God is calling His people to prayer and fasting!
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Rev. 3:20
