Vatican discipline for priest involved with Medjugorje [Catholic Caucus]
Catholic Culture ^ | September 3, 3008

Father Tomislav Vlasic, a Franciscan priest who was prominent in the first efforts to publicize the alleged apparitions at Medjugorje, has been placed under interdict by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith because of his flagrant disregard for ecclesiastical discipline. Father Vlasic-- who eventually broke with the Medjugorje "seers" and founded his own quasi-religious community, was cited for "suspicion of heresy and schism, as well as scandalous acts contra sextum, aggravated by mystical motivations."

“scandalous acts contra sextum, aggravated by mystical motivations.”

Hmmm (eyebrows narrowing) .... sounds serious.

A visit to Medjugorje transformed the life of a guy I know.
He recently quit his job to dedicate his life to doing good. I haven't heard specifics yet. But, he is serious about it for sure.

the story is at least 15 years old...maybe more. I heard about this “scandal” in the early 1990’s...and the priest is only one of many Franciscans who worked there.

Sounds like the bishop is making mischief again.

A neighbor had the same experience. Upon her return, she tossed out the boyfriend, filled her home with holy objects and artwork and joined several prayer groups. Unfortunately, she went too far, delving into marian apparitions and believing every self-proclaimed seer. She was convinced the world would end in 2000. When it didn't, she claimed Mary was calling her to Maryland. She sold her house and moved. Not sure what happened to her after that.

Cardinal Ratzinger was familiar with Medjugorje hoax and disapproved of it.

The whole Medjugorje stinks to the high heaven and might be even considered as worship of Evil.

This hoax builds on horrors commited by Herzegovina Franciscans in WWII.

During WWII, Herzegovina Franciscans comitted and influenced others to commit the most horrendous crimes against fellow Christians of Orthodox faith: Killing clergy, burning churches, raping and mutilating women in front of their children or pupils, throwing people in karst pits. Horror and evil not seen since the 100 Year war.

Franciscans of Medjugorje did more than contra Sextum, they are against all Ten Commandments.

Let me state clearly, I do not say the entire Franciscan order is like that. But Franciscans of Herzegovina are rotten apple that can spoil the entire basket.

IMHO, people who still follow this dangerous cult need spiritual guidance and cult deprogramming help. There is no difference between being snatched by Moonies or them.

Of course, delving into approved apparitions is fine, but we have to rely on the Holy Spirit to tell us when we’ve gone too far, or for the wrong motivations. At least that is what I do.

Wow! I hope things worked out alright for her. It's an interesting coincidence that she was destined for Maryland. As you might know, the Maryland settlement was founded by Catholic Lord Baltimore in 1634. Mary is its namesake.

When you hear these stories, you just don't know. Is it an actual spiritual experience, or an emotional one? We'll if it's of God, then it should lead to good things.

After hearing your story, I'm thinking about checking up on the guy I know. I wanted to hear more about his experience over there anyway.
