Bishop Soto Stuns national homosexual ministries conference
California Catholic Daily ^ | 9/26/2008 | n/a

Posted on 09/26/2008 12:59:39 PM PDT by Pyro7480

When two Catholics... learned that Sacramento Coadjutor Bishop Jaime Soto was to be the keynote speaker at the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries conference in Long Beach on Sept. 18, they decided to attend themselves to see and hear the talk in person. They say what they witnessed was a bishop who “courageously but gently” gave a clear presentation of Church teaching on sexuality....

But there was noting ambiguous about Bishop Soto’s remarks to the group. “Sexual relations between people of the same sex can be alluring for homosexuals, but it deviates from the true meaning of the act and distracts them from the true nature of love to which God has called us all,” Bishop Soto said. “For this reason, it is sinful. Married love is a beautiful, heroic expression of faithful, life-giving, life-creating love. It should not be accommodated and manipulated for those who would believe that they can and have a right to mimic its unique expression."

At least five members of the audience walked out during the bishop’s address. When he finished speaking, there was general silence -- with only a very small number applauding....

A series of about eight speakers came to the microphone to express their unhappiness with what the bishop had said -- and what they felt he had not said. One woman said, in essence, "We know what the Church says. What we wanted you to talk about is the value of our lived experience as lesbian women and gay men."

...[A] board member of the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries came up to one of the tables in the room and said, "On behalf of the board, I apologize. We had no idea Bishop Soto was going to say what he said."

So in other words, they expected him to renounce the beliefs, traditions and teaching of his Church just so they could feel good about their aberrant behavior? The very height of their arrogance is breathtaking.

“Speak the truth in love”

Obviously they all knew where he was coming from. They got the message whether ambiguous or not it hit home.

One woman said, in essence, "We know what the Church says. What we wanted you to talk about is the value of our lived experience as lesbian women and gay men."

What dreadful journalism! If "one woman" didn't say precisely those words, then get the FReepin' quotation marks off it. If she did, then get the mincy "in essence" out of there.

The truth can be a hard thing for some to accept. The man was simply reiterating the tenets of the Catholic Religion. If these people can’t “take” that, then maybe they shouldn’t call themselves Catholics...

“National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries”

That title is an oxymoron from people who are living in denial. Their sexual practices are called sodomy. These practices have been called sodomy from Christ to the present, from Moses to the present. These practices are unacceptable within the Judeo-Christian framework.

The National Asssociation of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries is not an officially recognized Catholic organization.

It is as valid as the my newly founded National Association of Catholic Diocesan Beer Drinking, BBQ Eating, and Football Watching Ministries.

We are a highly inclusive ministry - all are welcomed.

By the way everyone should check out the bio of the President of the organization.

http://www.nacdlgm.org/nac_board.html

President - Charles O'Neill - Las Vegas, NV

At age 31, Charles left ministry altogether to take care of himself. After six years in Portland, Oregon, and living comfortably as an openly gay Catholic man, he decided to go back into full-time youth ministry, this time in Denver, Colorado.. . .

The ministry isn't a full-time job, so he also works as an actor in 'Star Trek: The Experience.'

Priceless!

“he decided to go back into full-time youth ministry,”

Good grief.

Sodomite + youth = youth with sore rectum.

Keywords: -None-
Description: -None-
Body: 7 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved
