With the economy and money and the preoccupation (along with their veneration) joining the ranks of other "dark signs of the times" I offer this little glimmer of insightful light. Contrary to the delusional adage: "You can't take it with you" --- quite to the contrary --- we most certainly can, and do, take it with us. That is, our money, but more precisely, "our greed for money". Or, to use the more universal and timeless wording for money as found in the Scriptures, - "silver and gold". So let it be known --- "WE CAN TAKE IT WITH US" ... in this one terrible sense --- it will consume us eternally. Hear the word of the Lord as it has been preserved for us in James 5:3, "Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days." And again in Ezekiel 7:19, "They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be an unclean thing. Their silver and gold will not be able to save them in the day of the LORD's wrath. They will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it, for it has made them stumble into sin." And so also in Zephaniah 1:18, "Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the LORD's wrath. In the fire of his jealousy the whole world will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live in the earth." Therefore, if we cling to our love for gold and silver, and if it is our consuming desire to take it with us, and if we do not renounce our devotional love for money while we are yet walking on this celestial ball, and if while we yet live in our mortal bodies (temples of the living God) we choose to love and worship money, then we most certainly will take it with us when we die. Therefore, as creatures capable of faith, whether it be faith in the Truth or faith in the Lie, as spiritual beings who still yet have time to exercise faith on this side of eternity, the only side where faith can attain to its self realization and then to redeem its eternal value, let us believe that we can take it with us if we desire to. But O may it be that we do not desire to, so that by the mercy of God we won't. Finally in closing, for the best definition of greed, or for that of a greedy person, refer to the Truth; Colossians 3:5, greed > is idolatry; and Ephesians 5:5, a greedy person > is an idolater. Cheers and be of good cheer.
