In C.S. Lewis's book The Silver Chair, the children Eustace and Jill are called into Narnia to find a lost Prince of Narnia, Prince Rillian. They find in a land deep under the surface of the earth, under a witch's terrible enchantment.
The children succeed in freeing Rillian and killing the witch. They then have to leave her undergrond castle to battle her minions. They don their swords and their shields, their bows and their quivers, and they march forth. But before they leave to face what might be certain death, Rillian reminds them that, regardless of whether they live or die, "Aslan will be our good Lord."
I am not one who likes to say that God is a Republican, or even a conservative. The Lord Jesus Christ is not defined in human terms. He doesn't have to take our side. We have to take his. As C.S. Lewis was fond of saying, "He is not a tame Lion."
But in this election, we are facing a man who has some sort of messianic complex. His supporters liken him to Jesus Christ. He believes he can cause the waters to recede and the land to be healed.
But he is a man who is friends with violent terrorists. He is a man whose supposed Christianity is really dedication to Marxist Black Liberation Theology, a Christless religion of hatred and anger. He is a man who feels that it is okay to sit down and have a friendly chat with men who have genocidal desires against the Jewish people.
Obama is a man who is trying to use the force of the courts, and even the Justice Department, to silence his critics, both on WGN and in Missouri. And he doesn't even yet have the power of the Presidency.
And he is a man who believes that it is okay to kill babies who are already born.
I do not like to call my political opponents evil or unpatriotic. I was not crazy about the swift boat stuff, even if it might have been accurate. But in this case, the shoe certainly fits. Barack Obama is not a good man. His network of support is not so much political as religious. He is their prophet and their messiah.
But Jesus Christ is ours.
So don't worry about the election. Don't worry about what will happen if we lose. Today we must put on our swords and our shields and go forth and fight to win this election. Whatever happens, Jesus will still be Our Good Lord.
Our Good Lord tells us, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world" (John 16:33 NIV). Barack Obama may end up as President of the United States, but Jesus Christ will always be the Good Lord the Universe. And even Obama must someday bow the knee to the High King.
Thank you.
bamy must be defeated and McCain elected....
PRAY TO GOD AND PASS THE AMMUNITION!
This is what so many of us who agree with you have been preaching, but, perhaps not with the beautiful eloquence of your post.
May I share it with others through email messages, giving credit to your screen name and linking it to this post?
LOL.
Yes, we put on the armor and fight for what is right, but we always try to say, do, and pray in accordance with His Will.
After we’ve done all that we can do, and it still appears that we may have not prevailed, we know that God is in control and Christ reigns regardless of the victories men may think they’ve won.
Please go right ahead, but give the praise to the Lord Jesus Christ.
BUMP
Thank you...I shall. : )
IMO the Lord already knows who is going to win, and whatever we do is just part of His plan...whether our guy wins or not.
That was beautiful and very reassuring...thank you.
He is not a tame Lion. But he's a good Lion.
One of my favorites from Narnia: “He’s certainly not safe, but he is good.”
