THE COMING PERFECT STORM by John Paul Jackson
For those of you who have followed this ministry, you have heard me say more than once during the past eight years that from 2009 or 2010, things will become very difficult. I have been praying and hoping that what I am about to write may be averted. However, I am now concerned that without prophetic people speaking up, we will not play our redemptive part in bringing change for the good.
FIVE ELEMENTS OF THE BREWING PERFECT STORM As in the movie The Perfect Storm, the storm I see coming to the United States is a combination of more than one element, and when the elements unite, the storm becomes exponentially more dangerous. However, unlike the movie, this storm is not just a storm of merging weather patterns. This storm is worse; it involves five different elements: religion, politics, economics, war and geo-physical events.
At times these five elements will be so intertwined that it will be difficult, if not impossible, to distinguish which events are driving a particular manifestation of the storm. Massive problems in these five areas will come often, or in combination, and sometimes repeatedly. Each element has potentially several events that will have national and international ripple effects. Some ripples will be worse than others, depending on where you live and how you make your living. Different areas of the United States will experience different severities. Some will experience more economic elements, others more geo-physical elements; some will experience all elements. Remember, it is the combination and the rapidity that will make the storm problematic.
Also, this does not mean all five elements will hit at the most devastating levels. For example, on a scale of 1–10 with 10 being the worst, one element may strike at a six while another strikes at an eight. It is the particular combinations of elements — the proximity of each element as well as the intensity of each element — that will make this storm so difficult and seem to last so long. This storm will not be short-lived; it will come in waves, one after another.
WHY IS THE STORM COMING? This storm is coming because the Church (the Body of Christ) is no longer the backbone of this nation. From our inception, the Christian faith has been the plumb line of decisions made at all levels of life. The Christian founding of this nation is what makes it different from every other nation, other than perhaps Israel. Other nations may have become Christian in their focus, but none were initially formed with Christianity as the core of its DNA.
The Church is to make known God’s manifold wisdom to the world and the powers of the air (Ephesians 2:2). This demonstration to the heavens is not accomplished by speaking to those powers but through righteous living. How we live opens or closes doors for Satan to legally afflict us and even rule over us via leaders who do not know the ways of God. From Adam and Eve through today, the actions of humankind have given room for the enemy to strike and attack us. The only legal way the enemy has access to us is when the hand of God lifts from us, resulting in a space between Him and us. This space increases as we distance ourselves from Him and His ways.
Anytime there is an increased distance between God and humanity, it leaves room for attack to come and for principalities and powers of the air (rulers of darkness) to take up residence. The longer dark powers reside over an area, the more the people begin to call right wrong and wrong right. Here in the United States, leaders arise from the people; in other words, as the people believe and think, so do the leaders who rise from their ranks. Eventually, the lines between right and wrong, as well as the holy and profane, become blurred. The way to God through Jesus and the Cross is no longer seen as an absolute. In fact, absolutes become touted as “intolerance” first in the world and then even within the Church. Yes, there are exceptions to this thinking within the Church, but through compromise, the absolutes of Heaven and eternity are clearly evaporating.
GOD CAN FASHION A DISASTER We are living in the days of Ezekiel and Jeremiah, who prophesied that God can bring disaster on a nation if that nation continually chooses to walk according to its own plans. God spoke this to Jeremiah:
“The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it.
“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.”’”
And they said, “… We will walk according to our own plans, and we will every one obey the dictates of his evil heart.” — Jeremiah 18:7–12
WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT ARE COMING? What are some of the things/consequences that will come? In time, water will be more expensive than oil, and cities will evacuate thousands because there is not enough water to meet their needs. (As Amos 4:7 says, “I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city.”) Earthquakes will strike not only coastal areas but devastate the Midwest as well. Israel will bomb Iran, and anti-Semitism will escalate as fuel costs soar. A dirty bomb will explode in a coastal city. There will be thunderstorms with huge hail, 24 inches of rain in 24 hours, three feet of snow in six hours, record-setting tornadoes with winds of more than 350 miles per hour and tornadoes in unusual places. There will be an unexpected blight that will hit various hybrid seed crops and weaken the yield. In addition, drought and devastation from storms will dramatically cut into various harvests and the national food storage will deplete.
“Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.”’” — Jeremiah 18:11 —
FOUR THINGS THE CHURCH MUST DO First, the Church must return to knowing God and His ways rather than just knowing about God. We have replaced power with programs, revelation with administration and the Father’s heart with organizational skills.
Second, the Church must learn how to contend for the faith again. We are weak, and we fall away so easily when crisis is not at hand. We have not been tested, and we have lost our resolve. We understand little of the adversary’s plans. We do not know how to debate our faith without becoming angry, and thus we have so few strong, clear, godly voices in political arenas. We have lost our witness — the witness that convicts others and strongly testifies that God is still God and is very, very real. We have lost the witness that demonstrates that God is a personal God in a very impersonal world, the witness that says, “What I do proves God exists.”
Third, the Church must return to the love of God’s Word and the belief that it is infallible and inerrant. This would include the conviction, understanding and knowledge that God is absolute, and there is only one way to know Him: through Jesus the Messiah. We need a new revelation that God’s power is unlimited, His knowledge is unending, His presence is with us always and He never changes. We have made God far too small, and our lives prove it.
Fourth, we will need to declare sacred and solemn assemblies of repentance and corporate fasting in many parts of this nation — a time set aside for rending our hearts before God.
“Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “Turn to Me with all your heart, With fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.” So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. Who knows if He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him — A grain offering and a drink offering For the LORD your God?
Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room. Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, Weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, “Spare Your people, O LORD.” — Joel 2:12–17
CRISIS IS THE FRUIT OF FOLLOWING THE WRONG GOD God allows calamities to happen in order to draw us to Himself. What does that mean? It means that God allows us to reap the fruit of that which we serve. Walking in God’s ways brings blessings and fullness of life, while walking in the ways of the “god of this world” will bring the fruit of the god of this world: decay, destruction, deterioration and death. We make our choice, then the choice makes us. Sadly, we are developing a history of wrong choices.

The worse the trauma the more it becomes clear to me that God asks or maybe exhorts up to live by faith. At least this is his reminder to me in the last year.

I hear the Lord saying, “2008 is the year of the open gate.” This is the gate into which the righteous shall enter this year. The Lord, right now, is opening gates for the righteous into positions of authority and financial prosperity. This is a year of tremendous opportunity for advancement in the natural and spiritual. The Lord is making room for those who have sought Him and desire to see Him prosper them; those who will use their wealth to build His kingdom and establish His dominion in the earth.
God is opening the gates of kingdom authority to bring His dominion into the earth. Many will see the righteous enter into divine places of leadership in government and financial centers of the world system. Like Daniel and Joseph of old, these anointed and appointed leaders will see the gates of the world systems open to them and great advantage will be given to them to influence the destiny of nations.
The Lord says in 2008, “He is raising up one, who will be righteous, into a position of power to transform this nation. This person will literally have the ear of this nation and people will beat a pathway to their door to support them. Even now, this is beginning to happen, and it will increase,” say the Lord. “You shall surely see it come to pass and all shall know that I am he that searches the hearts and minds, for I will delve deep into the hearts of men to give them the desires of their hearts.”
“Some will reap from the good that they have sown over the years, others will reap the bitter harvest of their own ways,” for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it. “Even now, the stars that have shone with the light of Hollywood shall be darkened and I will cause other lights to shine in their place,” says the Lord. “Many of these so called stars shall go dark due to their sins, and they shall know that I am he who searches the hearts and sees the secret things of their lives, and they shall be ashamed of what they have done in secret, for it shall be brought into the public light.”
The Lord says, “I am restoring shame to this nation. The nation of America has not known it should be ashamed. Even now, shall this nation see their deeds, as they are in My sight and in the sight of the nations of the world. Yes! I will judge the iniquity of all lands that sin against Me. Some have questioned Me and said, When shall America be judged? When shall she reap My righteous judgment for her sins? Now, says the Lord, shall there be a division made between the righteous and the unrighteous, between the holy and the unholy, between the clean and the unclean, and you shall know that I am not a respecter of persons, says the Lord, that as I see I judge and My judgment is just.”
“Are not My eyes a burning fire and My hair white as snow? Are not My feet burnished bronze, as if they have been in the fires of My Spirit?” For the Lord says, “My spirit shall burn bright in the hearts of My people once again, and where My people have been overwhelmed and overburdened with the cares of this world, I will shift their attention back to Me and My ways and My kingdom. Now, even at this time, says the Lord, “Get ready! For this is an hour of deliverance from the ways of the world into the ways of My kingdom. And, great miracles will happen as a result of the things that I will do in this season and hour of history.”
For the Lord declares, “History shall be made this year!” This will be a year to remember. Many will look back at what happened this year, and they will know that it was this year that completely transformed their lives, so that they could become useful vessels in my hand. The Lord says, “I am rolling back the clock for some. Some shall have years added to their lives, as I do miracles of healing and deliverance from years of oppression, depression, sorrow and woe. Do not think that I will not comfort you,” says the Lord. “I will comfort you this year, as I set a new beginning before you, a new beginning of a better life, a life that is free from strife and striving for the good that this world has to offer. You shall not have to strive for it,” says the Lord, “for it shall come to you, and you shall know that I am He who searches the hearts and minds.”
“Yes, I am searching and seeking for a people who will serve Me. I am searching for those who will love Me, who will believe in Me. I am searching for those who will hear My upward call and climb the mountain of a new beginning and enter into the new season and year that I am setting before them. Do not think it strange the things that will happen to you this year, for I will cause unusual events to appear in the night sky as a sign of the times that you are in, as I cause your lives to be transformed into a thing of beauty and provide you grace to run the race that I have set before you.”
“Run and you shall not grow weary. Run towards Me and My ways among the men of this earth. Run into the realm of my spirit. Run into the greater works that I am doing in this hour. Run into a new place in Me and My will for your life. Run into a place of transformation and regeneration by My spirit. Run into the fullness of all that I have for you. Run into the full destiny of My spirit in your life. Run to Me and I will run toward you, and you shall meet Me in a new place of provision and vision, for My grace do I pour out upon you at this time.”
“Even as Elijah was anointed by Me to run by My spirit into a new season of rain that he birthed through prayer, many of you shall run into your prayers, as you run into Me and My will for your life. New dreams do I give you. New lives and potential to live up to. New eyes to see with. New ears to hear with. Behold, all things become new in Me and My kingdom, as I bring forth My design and purpose among the men and women of this earth. Get ready to see it, for it shall be shown, and you shall know that I am your own and you are My own, for My beloved is Mine and I am yours,” says the Lord. “Great shall be your rejoicing this year, as this new season is coming upon you now!”
“Know thee this, as I was with Moses so shall I be with you this year, and great shall be your deliverance, great shall be your redemption, great shall be the significance of what I do for you this year. And, you shall know that your redeemer lives, and that I have redeemed you from the house of bondage and from the hand of your enemy. Get ready to fly high in Me, as I bring you to a new place of victory in every area of your life.”

And, you shall know that I am your banner and your victory, says the Lord, who does all this in your sight, in this year of My power and might, as I bring sight to the nations of the world to see My glory and My power, even as I do this this year,” says the Lord of Hosts.

Amen. Thanks be to God.
As you know Quix, I don't agree with the End Times as ascribed to by others. However, I have long thought that America would be punished for her own sin and leading others in to sin. I still think it will happen. I must say that since shortly before hurrican Ike, I have had a spirit of hope. I feel it at the oddest times, um, like when most of the city was without electricity. Sometimes the feeling is overwhelming, whole. God is awesome. People should really quit downsizing him to fit in their hip pockets.
During the hurricane about 3:00AM I was getting spooked by the noises and howling winds in total darkness, I put on my iPod and listened to prayers. Had the best 3 hours sleep I can remember, missed the worst part of the storm.
BUMP May this nation repent and her people humble themselves before the Lord.

Ah yes, the perfect storm. Origin: 1991 off the coast of New England, while Bush 41 was off in Madrid inciting ‘land for peace’ - an incipient abomination designed to bring desolation to Israel. The waters of destruction damaged his Kennebunkport home...
Come to think of it, just recently hurricane Kyle caused coastal Maine to have its first hurricane watch in 17 years. 2008 - 17 = 1991. The watch was posted for Down East Maine, but surely it engendered a trip down memory lane for the entire coast.

God has yet to thoroughly clean up the modern Christian prophetic.
He HAS put a number of prophets through some intense discipline, even severe punishment.
Some have fallen by the wayside.
Some are being further pruned and purified.
All of us see through the glass darkly. None of us have it all figured out. None of us have the whole picture.
I Cor 14 makes clear that the whole congregation is to judge prophetic pronouncements for what is truly of God and fitting and what is not.
There’s no hint in that procedural manual of stoning those who fail to get it 100% perfectly right.
The book YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHECY goes into the New Testament vs Old Testament work of Holy Spirit with respect to prophecy and does a fair job of explaining the differences.
I often get weary of folks who have not been called to any kind of prophetic role, office or ministry being overly harsh about folks who have.
One thing, we can ALL be sure of—judging out of the flesh, bad faith, a critical spirit, self-righteousness etc. will only bring harsher punishment and judgment back on the inappropriate judge.
Psalm 46:4,
“There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High,”
