That’s wonderful! I wish our parish were doing something like that. Our pastor seems to be an Obammite, but our bishop (with whom I disagree on just about everything else) actually came out and made a good, strong individual statement on the matter. The Florida bishops issued a wussy and extremely “nuanced” joint statement, but three bishops - Orlando, Venice and now St. Augustine - came out and actually led their people.
Ad multos annos...
Thanks for the reminder.
Day 1 Check.
Our abp is in the tank for Obama. He's black and from Chicago, I guess we can't expect any different.
I hope he catches some heat for it just the same.
Might be a good time to ask for his intercession . . . .
Rosary prayer bump.
You set your own time. The important thing is just to say it each day.
Is that the votive candle with Obama on it?
Probably was St. Martin de Porres picture originally. Hadn’t thought about that.
At first I thought you were talking about the original picture on that prayer thread, but I saw no candles. LOL!
It was obviously a pic of St. Martin de Porres, with Obama's head rather poorly photoshopped over it.
Somebody took a picture of the candles for sale in a San Francisco shop of some sort - don't know if it was a Catholic shop or one of those creepy Obeah shops . . .
If I were St. Martin, I would be annoyed.
Why have now over 25% of US bishops come out with clear statements about the moral imperative of voting prolife? In answer to prayers, I believe, particularly prayers to Mary, the Mother of God.
Burke was the lone voice calling in the wilderness in the 2004 election. It seemed nothing happened, but it got the faithful interested and ramped up the subject, more talk on EWTN, more prayers for reform of our bishops. This year Chaput and a few others come out, and basically shamed their brother bishops into also taking action. Biden’s bishop has now formally chastised him. And, a few bishops in Old Europe have now just come out with clear prolife statements. Of course Pope Benedict’s chastising words during his visit helped, but none acted until a few took the lead.
The Catholic vote is swinging right, the protestants will follow. No one wants to be seen as an old stodgy war-monger Republican, they want to be “enlightened and compassionate” Democrats. But now prolife, with Sarah as an example, is becoming “cool”.
And all of this could not happen in such a short time without the power of prayer. Let’s hope God will bless America on Nov. 4.
I did mine this evening with all six kids.
Done.............but thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for posting this.
You are all welcome!
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
