Bishop Earl Boyea of Lansing, Michigan has denounced Governor Jennifer Granholm for her 'shocking' suggestion that a ballot measure allowing embryonic stem-cell research is a 'pro-life' initiative because it could lead to the discovery of medical cures. "To be in favor of Proposal 2 is not to be pro-life," the bishop said. "A well formed Catholic conscience would never lead a person to support Proposal 2 as a Catholic."

What a crazy world we inhabit - Bush as abysmal approval ratings, but Granholm has not been removed from office yet?

Until we in the sticks outnumber the obamas* in Detroit, that’s the way it’s going to be.

The bishops seem to be developing a collective spine and are calling out these CINO politicians.
I hope it's contagious.

If you would like to be added or dropped from the Michigan ping list, please freepmail me.
This was from a few days ago but worth the read. Bishop Boyea is the new head of the Lansing Diocese (mine).
I am loving this guy!!!!

Boyea is excellent - you’ll love him. We’d love to have him back here in the AoD when you’re done with him!

As someone who grew up in Michigan and moved to Georgia, I love watching Michigan's economy fall apart. They are getting exactly what the deserve.

What I especially love about this: Bishop Boyea's residence is within sight of the Capitol and the rest of the state Legislature. His base church is St. Mary Cathedral, right across the street from the Capitol and Legislature. If the CINO Molehern wants to attend mass in Lansing, she's going to have to think long and hard before she sets foot in St. Mary.
Former Governor Engler used to go to the weekday noon mass at the Cathedral pretty regularly. But then, he was an actual Catholic.

What nice comments. Yeah, all of us freeping Michiganders are responsible for this mess. Sure. We're the ones who went out and voted for Molehern, Kilpatrick etc. UmHmm. We're getting exactly what we deserve.
Jerk.

I second that. It is amazing that a freeper would think we actually voted for “Ol’Wart Face” It is bad enough and sure to get worse to live her without having a fellow freeper kick us in the teeth.

As someone who is still stuck in Michigan, I am pissed off that only Detroit and Muskegon are the real Dem areas but the rest of us have no voice because they carry the whole state every time.

^timing^ is everything.
The question is, how late will the Day-twah results come in?
Love that 7:00 pm 2% returns out of Detroit then |absolutely nothing| until 1100 pm when the returns become 85% in!

That’s why decent people should leave. Life is hard enough without having to spend it swimming up stream.

We would’ve left some time ago, but no one wants to buy our house. It’s in Michigan.
To: mombyprofession
Better to take a $50,000 hit on your house than to make $50,000 less per year forever because there are no good jobs.

My husband has a great job here. I was born here, I’ll probably die here. Some of us don’t throw in the towel so easily.

To each his or her own. I am looking forward to buying a lake house “Up North” as the diminishing population and crashing economy creates bargains.
