TFP ^ | Updated Monday, May 26 2008

We are far from belittling the benefits that civilization and culture provide. Nonetheless, by a monstrous deviation caused by neopaganism, we live in an age where civilization and culture rouse insatiable appetites and ambitions in men and artificial pleasures that destroy the Christian sense of austerity and sacrifice.

Money may not be able to buy happiness, but it can certainly rent it for a while... :-)

The Devil you say! The supreme spirit of evil!

After man has spent years on earth listening to the lies of leaders, it is impossible to tell him truths they will believe. “They call me the father of lies, but I never patented the idea, so I’m suffering from competition.”

“Idle hands are the Devil’s tools.”

Could the idle hands who don’t pay taxes,
be looking for a tax cut ?

Certainly we need material things in a material world; but the spiritual side of things are trump:

“We are far from belittling the benefits that civilization and culture provide”.

I think every generation has lived in that "age."

Sure; but our “age” has a lot more tentacles at its disposal.

Jesus did have that talk with the rich man. But I believe it’s where your treasure is,heart. To live for God and his gospel versus for self and the goods of the world.

One need not look long or far to find someone praying that GOD spare them from more misfortune than they can bear. On the other hand, there are far too few people begging GOD for his assistance and guidance when things are on the upswing.

That’s when we need it the most so we don’t get proud.

A few years back there was a powerball winner, IIRC, in West Virginia, who after winning 100+ million dollars basically had his life fall apart. The story had a profound impact on me, and forced me to recognize that if not spiritually fit and prepared, we can indeed, receive “too much of a good thing.” We should be just as, if not more so, spiritually engaged when dealing with our blessings as we are in dealing with our misfortunes.
