Doug Kmiec to give election ‘post-mortem’ at Calif. seminary [Catholic Caucus]

Sacramento, Nov 6, 2008 / 07:47 am (CNA).- St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California has invited Pepperdine University law professor and Obama backer Doug Kmiec to give an election “post-mortem” lecture.

According to the California Catholic Daily, Kmiec will give the Thirteenth Annual Newman C. Eberhardt Lecture next Tuesday. The seminary’s web site says his lecture will examine “the prominent role played by the American Catholic community in the 2008 election, from Bishops educating candidates on ensoulment to alternative ways to be pro-life to the selection of running mates.”

Kmiec, former legal counsel for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, has also been dean of the law school at the Catholic University of America and a law professor at Notre Dame University.

Though a pro-life Republican, in a March 23 essay in Slate magazine he endorsed the pro-abortion rights Democratic Sen. Barack Obama, saying Obama “wants to move the nation beyond its religious and racial divides and that he wants to return the United States to that company of nations committed to human rights.”

Kmiec’s justifications for supporting Obama have drawn criticism from Catholic clergy and laity. He has argued that Archbishop Charles J. Chaput’s position on the Catholic citizen’s voting duties “discounts reducing the incidence of abortion by cultural (economic and social) means” by focusing on legal remedies.

However, Kmiec insists his disagreement is not over the “essence of Church instruction” but rather the “preferred means of implementing it.”

Kmiec is way ahead of you. If Obama is faced with signing the FOCA, Kmiec will write a column, urging Obama to veto it. When Obama does sign it, Kmiec will write a column about how he feels betrayed. Kmiec and the other “Catholic” quislings have been angling for attention and they'll simply lie and pretend they're shocked when Obama does exactly what he said he would do vis-a-vis abortion rights.

Is there a Freeper out there in the Los Angeles diocese who can exert pressure on ROger Mahony to prevent Kmiec from speaking at the seminary? Mahony won't want to stop Kmiec from speaking, but he (Mahony) is also keeping a low profile on account of the priest scandals. This particulat seminary spawned a few homosexual priests; I think Mahony won't want attention called to it.

Why wait. That piece of excrement is stinking up the church.

Kmiec needs to take a look at some post-mortem photos of aborted babies and examine his conscience.

Inviting him to speak at a Catholic seminary is simply outrageous, but very little surprises me anymore in Cardinal Mahony's archdiocese.

“Kmiek should be excommunicated!”

He already may be but doesn’t realize it yet.

Catholics are responsible for this nutcase.

Hope they enjoy the social liberalism that’s coming- especially abortion on demand.

The demons are active in the Catholic church and have been for quite some time. Apparently, Kmiec is just one more example. We have some brave and faithful Catholics who are fighting against the subversion of our doctrine including popes and bishops. Supporting any democrat given their hard line stance on abortion is indefensible. The former St. Louis Archbishop, Raymond L. Burke, publicly declared that “the Democratic Party risks transforming itself definitely into a ‘party of death.’” It is the Party of Death. There is no ambiguity here. No one who voted for Obama or any other Democrat (even if pro-life) is serious about ending abortion. As long as democrats hold majorities in Congress and state legislatures, abortion will thrive.

He already excommunicated himself.

As long as people want to have sex and not have children, abortion will thrive.

You have put your finger on the real problem. The West has become hostile to procreation. That is why it is being overrun.

I think it's more than that - the West has become hostile to life in general, life as it really is. I hate to say "we," because it annoys me when people "we" and I don't think it includes me :-), so "a significant element in our society" seems only to want the kind of life that can't be achieved without dreadful inhumanity: a life in which sex doesn't make babies; people don't become old, sick or incapacitated; a spouse is never unsatisfactory; "somebody" provides exactly what we want without an inconvenient level of effort.

If one can get life to work that way, one doesn't need God, but can imagine oneself as God.

Doug, you slimy piece of ......

You just helped elect an abortionist, infanticidal communist megalomaniac to the Presidency of the US>

Hang your head in shame.

Shut up, go away, and pray fervently that God grant you the grace of repentance and conversion.

Right now, Doug, you are headed for Hell.

Thanks! I try to think things through to their most basic concepts, and what I see is a deeply-felt rejection of the simple reality of being human.

The excommunication needs to be public and formal ... and need to be followed up with Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, and several others.

They have been giving scandal for far too long.

Kmiec is seizing the bishops’ teaching authority - and they’re letting him (along with Biden and Pelosi) get away with it. Until they stand up on their hind legs and excommunicate somebody, they’ll remain pathetically useless.

We may yet see such things. The moral voices of the bishops are strengthening.

The bishops did not let either Biden or Pelosi get away with it. They immediately made strong statements to refute the politicians’ erroneous (immoral) positions.
