WARREN: Well, that's the — the answer to getting us out of this economic crisis, no doubt about it, is wealth creation, Sean. We — we tend to go to one of the two extremes. The pendulum goes back and forth. You know, America tends to have an economic crisis about every 20 years.
In the 1930s, we decided that markets didn't work and we needed big government. And then in the '70s we decided that government didn't work. We needed free markets. And now we see this trend going back the other way. But the truth is there are two pendulums.
On one side is what I call wealth monopolization, which is some of the excesses of Wall Street. When you've got a guy who creates $200 million, he makes $200 million in a week and really didn't create anything for the society, there's a real problem there.
But then we swing it over to the other, which is wealth redistribution.
WARREN: The answer is neither wealth redistribution nor wealth monopolization. It's wealth creation. The answer is jobs.
WARREN: One of the big components that people don't talk about is that America has given up on the idea of living within its means.
WARREN: Well, I don't see — what I'd rather do is instead of the government taxing us and giving the money away to worthy causes. I'd rather let to have the government let us keep it and then you'd learn to give it away yourself, because then you get the credit and then you get the character development and then you get the heart of generosity.

Warren should stick to presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ for salvation — if he still remembers how to do it....
I’ve never like these Televangelist kind of guys anyway.
As a Baptist Pastor, Rick continues to “Jump the Shark”! Anytime you think you are bigger than God, you fall, been there done that!
Pastor Warren is a very charitable man, but I believe his church offers a watered-down version of “seeker-sensitive” Christianity.
They cancelled their Sunday evening services for the Super Bowl this past year. To me, that is ridiculous. Some Christians may find it more important to honor God than watch football.
I did enjoy his Presidential Forum, though. Much better than the debates.
Well, he's reaching the right conclusion, but if he actually believes that the government is giving money away to worthy causes from a Christian standpoint, he's worse than naive. No mention of God in there, either. I suspect Rick Warren is more interested in power and fame, but would love to be wrong about that.
So we know his views on the economy.

Yeah, these guys egos just get way too big for my taste.
In this conversation, he’s talking politics. I don’t hear anything particularly to disagree with. He’s for wealth creation and private initiative rather than government management of the economy.
The typical Obama evangelical would be concerned that the government wasn’t doing enough in terms of social programs. Thats clearly not Warren’s view. He sounds like a Republican. As a pastor he may register “independent” but his economics is Republican.
It is easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle than a pastor to explain economics.
In a market economy, the only way to make $200 million is to produce $200 million worth of wealth. Somebody get this guy an economics primer.

Out of his depth. His opinions on this are no more worth paying attention to than mine.
He's being asked these questions why?
Zondervan (Warren's PDL publisher) and Fox News are both owned by Rupert Murdoch. Rick's "interview with the candidates" wound up placing him on the wrong side of the election results, i.e., in the McCain camp. Note that, in this new interview, Sean Hannity makes a number of shameless plugs for PDL and for Warren himself. My guess is that someone in Murdoch, Inc decided that the sagging Rick Warren francise needed a little reinventing.

Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, made the observation in the book of Ecclesiastes that nothing is better for us than to rejoice, and to do good in our lives. He also says that it is the gift of God for every man and woman to eat and drink and enjoy the good of all their labor. According to this - God wants us to enjoy our lives.
