Salvation, the problem is not just ACORN. In Cleveland CCHD had given to at least three groups affiliated with NARAL - none of them ACORN.

Thanks for educating all of us.
I stopped giving to CHD years ago when prolifers exposed them for giving money to community-based programs that advocated for abortion.
I agree with you that most of the Bishops have developed spines, I’m just afraid too many generations of Catholics had been lulled into the belief that the democrats position on abortion was in some way not so bad since they were so into social welfare and justice. Now that the Bishops are coming around to the idea that maybe killing babies is more evil than some of the wealth inequity that exists in this country it may take years to discomfort the majority of Catholics in this country from voting for the party of abortion.
Raymond Arroyo (World Over Live) on EWTN AT 8 P.M. EST had an excellent presentation on the CCHD as it relates to ACORN and its other
I would recommend that you might consider watching this show before you decide whether to donate or not to donate to the CCHD. There is nothing wrong with withholding your CCHD envelope and placing it in the basket the following week. I am sure the diocese would be happy to receive it the following week.
I wish I could synthasize and write the essence of this presentation. However,
The following is the the summary of the topic and guest:
GUESTS
November 21
Russell Shaw,
Catholic author and former spokesman for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops
on the controversy surrounding the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)
and its long running association with ACORN.
This show encores on Saturday 1 a.m., Sunday 4 P.M. and Monday 10 a.m. and 11 P.M. on EWTN. You will be glad that you watch this show.
For those really interested, here’s a discussion on Fr. Z’s blog by some people who seem to have alot of knowledge. The problem is apparently not just ACORN, that’s just the item that finally brought to public light that there is a corrupt “hidden agenda” behind many of these bishops special collections. FWIW:

Thank you, ethics! I watched, and it was OK, but most of the real meaningful info was missing, it was a bit soft-pedaled.
Raymond Arroyo is in somewhat of a bind, he can’t appear to attack the bishops. If he did a real “expose” on what CCHD has been up to for the past 10 years, EWTN would be probably be closed the next day.
EWTN always downplays how bad things are in the Church hierarchy, but they do mention things, which for a TV station is good, they need to be Catholic but neutral, truthful but not negative, obviously they can’t criticize the Church to a diverse worldwide audience, that would cause confusion. It would be pointless for them to go to a level of detail that 99% if the audience could not grasp. And hence this story was somewhat superficial, but also courageous considering probably at least half of the bishops would like to see Arroyo’s head on a platter.
After all these decades of admiring Phyllis Schlafly I did not even know she was Catholic. In any case I’m glad I checked this info on CCHD. I saw a press release saying they were no longer contributing to ACORN. Even so I think I will not put that envelope in the second collection today.
Well, I was already to write something in the second collection envelope. But there was no second collection. That’s one way to avoid the problem.
Last week they mentioned CCHD would be this week.
Today it wasn’t mentioned and no collection was taken up.
