I use the phrase “confidence in the evidence that supports the theory” rather than belief. Belief doesn’t really come into it with science, either you have confidence in the evidence that supports the theory or you do not.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

either you have confidence in the evidence that supports the theory or you do not. Or, after accepting the evidence, that a particular theory is the one that best explains the evidence within the framework of science.
