Can *Clouds* convey Biblical Scriptures to us?

Today from *Spaceweather* MYSTERY PILLARS: "The air was very cold and filled with small ice crystals on Dec. 28th when we saw these strange pillars of light," reports Aigar Truhin of Sigulda, Latvia. "My son exclaimed, The aliens are coming!" It certainly looked that way." Truhin snapped this picture using his Nikon D90:

Truhin's pillars, however, are not the ordinary kind. Even two leading experts in atmospheric optics can't quite figure them out: "These pillars are mysterious," say Les Cowley and Marko Riikonen. "They have unexplained curved tops and even curved arcs coming from their base

EXODUS 13:21 The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. Deuteronomy The Lord Appears in the Pillar 31:15 And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle Revelation Feet as Pillars of Fire 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: When Israel was marching through the wilderness, Yhwh, wrapped in a pillar of cloud, preceded the people in order to show them the right way. During the night the cloud turned into a pillar of fire Jan 2nd, 2009 Israel can view Iran through clouds and at night JERUSALEM:: For Israel, the satellite will be able to track events in Iran, the country it considers its top foe, even at night and in cloudy weather, defence officials said. They said the TECSAR satellite was of particular importance for Israel because it could be used to keep tabs on Iran’s nuclear programme, which the US and Israel fear was a cover for pursuing nuclear weapons. The satellite, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries, operates with a special radar system, allowing it to view much more than existing Ofek satellites that use cameras, the officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to talk to the press http://www.indianexpress.com/news/israel-can-view-iran-through-clouds-and-at-night/264071/ http://www.spaceweather.com/ For Discussion:

I probably should've resisted the temptation, but, then again, who could?

It certainly does look like a Gothic cathedral’s columns, but it looks much more like Aurora Borealis. My guess is that the columns in Exodus are a miraculous tornado, which, when over water, forms a waterspout. Such waterspouts have been known to form dry land in the midst of a shallow sea, such as happened to the Great South Bay off Long Island in 1938. (the Great South Bay is more accurately labeled a lagoon.)

And, of course, Latvia is certainly way far enough North to have Northern Lights. But does the absence of solar storms (sunspots) mean that there have been no Northern Lights? Is that why the cited scientists aren’t so quick to call them such?

I've occasionally delivered God's Word to trolls via clouds.

It’s beautiful.

He shows Himself with or without clouds.

His Creation shows off His handiwork on a daily basis but many remain blind to it.

Lovely. I believe there are signs in the sky and didn’t God say there would be, especially in the end times?

My view is that all that exists, is ultimately God’s creation. I see no sound reason to believe that God creates or shapes individual clouds (though of course He has the ability), and every reason to think that He leaves cloud formation to natural forces. In a way I think that it underestimates God’s grandeur to imagine Him fooling with individual clouds, or forming an image on a piece of toast or what have you. Such pettiness is a human, and not a divine attribute, though I’m sure most who hold these cloud and toast superstitions (as I see them) are well-intentioned.

Cool picture! I vote for the lights to be Aurora Borealis. I have only seen them once here in the Upper Midwest, and it was a spectacular sight. Very strange and beautiful and not expected. That was years ago. Recently there was an alert that due to arriving particles from the Sun, there was a possibility of the Aurora Borealis making an appearance again, farther south than they normally are seen. That is probably what they saw.

(Lower 48. That’s kinds strange in this context, isn’t it? Excluding Hawaii, that is. Lower 49, shall I say? After all, I’m pretty sure that Hawaii’s further south than Minnesota. Even the Pipeline, the North Beach! :^) )
