The lastest issue of French magazine Paris Match has published an interesting photograph of President Obama revealing what he always carries in his pockets. Among the items is a Miraculous Medal. The photo also shows another medal with the image of the Virgin Mary holding the Infant Jesus. 
The medal has an association with Medjugorje. On November 27, 1989, Our Lady said to the visionary Marija:
These days, I want you to pray in a special way for the salvation of souls. Today is the feast day of the miraculous medal, and I want that you pray, in a special way, for the salvation of those people who are carrying this miraculous medal. I want you to spread the devotion and carrying of this medal, so that more souls may be saved, and that you pray in a special way.
O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
On November 27 1830 at 5:30 pm, during meditation, St Catherine Labouré saw at the present location of the Virgin of the Globe (Rue de Bac) a vision of the Blessed Virgin. She was standing on a globe holding in her hands a small golden globe, her feet crushing a serpent. Coming from the open hands of the Blessed Virgin were beautiful rays of light. At that same moment Catherine heard a voice saying: “These rays are symbols of graces that Mary obtains for people.” Then an oval formed around the vision and Catherine saw emblazoned in a semi-circle this invocation written in gold letters, and until then unknown: “O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to you”. Then the oval turned and Catherine saw on the reverse side, the letter M surmounted with a little cross and below it the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Catherine then heard these words: “Have a medal made as this. Those who wear it with confidence will receive great graces.”

For your discernment. If this is true, regardless of his reasons, we need to pray for him and the Congress.
I wonder if there will be very many posts on this.
Does he hold onto the medal tightly when a baby is dying in a metal tray after they are born? Does he cling to the medla as he supports partial birth abortions?

These are trinkets from every religion out there. Yes, I’m glad he has a pretty little Catholic trinket. That does not make him a Catholic. If this is how you think, then he must be Hindu too, because he wears a Monkey God trinket dedicated to that Hindu God.
We also need to keep in mind that those who practice sorcery and witchcraft use Christian medals and such sometimes as part of their rituals
I recall a daily prayer thread for President Bush. I wonder if there is one for Barack Obama as well. One that maybe one day his eyes will open.
This kills me to say, but this is not far off from the current Catholic belief, as I understand it. We do believe there is punishment for a knowing rejection of Christianity, but not for someone who has not had exposure.

To be honest with you, I’m not sure.
But I will tell you this, we were replacing missiles in our church one day after the first of the year. A lady stopped me and asked who one of the statues was. I said St. Therese, the little flower. The lady told me she was Muslim and had seen her in a dream. I said that she was welcome to come here any time. She lit a candle and prayed before a statue of Mary.
I wouldn’t give an absolute no to the question
We are told that it is too soon to show signs of skepticism. I think it is far too soon to show such massive adoration and blind faith and hyperbolic accolades.

It is all for show. If he had any real respect for the medals we Catholics have, especially those of us for whom we hold the Blessed Mother in high esteem, he would not have those medals in a jumble in a pocket with other things resembling a lucky rabbits feet. If those medals really meant anything to him in a religious way, he would have them on a chain around his neck.

I wonder if what a man has in his heart, as demonstrated by his actions, is more telling than the trinkets that may be found in his his pocket.
I think there are a few intriguing reasons for him carrying the Mary medals.
One, I remember that Lincoln carried Confederate money and even had a CSA note in his pocket the night he was shot. So maybe it’s a keeping a talisman of your enemies type of thing.
Two, I believe that he went to Catholic school for awhile and he feels comforted by Mary (even maybe as surrogate for his real mother). If this is the case, I pray that Our Lady opens his eyes.
Finally, maybe he is aware that JPII credited Mary for saving his life from the assassin’s bullet, and it’s simply a good luck charm.
