“I’m sorry Mr. Smith. We cannot promote you to the next rank here in the New York Masonic Brotherhood.”
Joseph Smith: “I’ll show you! I’ll go start my own religion!”
The rest is history.
“Satisfying the Beatitudes doean’t make you a Christian.
It might make you a good person, but it doesn’t make you a Christian.”
Amen.
Good one!!
The biggest difference ‘tween the Catholics and the Mormons is that, while Catholics have many un-biblical beliefs such as Mary being born without sin; Mary and other dead believers being able to hear our prayers and answer them; purgatory; and Mary ascending into Heaven bodily rather than dying, they STILL believe in the real Jesus Christ...born of a virgin, Son of God, always existing, the Word through whom the universe was created.
The Mormon,s however, practice the same deceptive philosophy that Satan practiced on Adam and Eve “Do this and you will become Gods.”
The Mormons preach that God was a man once, God’s father was a man once, and they, themselves, being men, will also become Gods like Jehoveh...which is pure and utter blasphemy.
Their Jesus has the same name as the real Jesus, but it’s not him in the slightest regard, hence...they worship a false Jesus, they worship a false God and are thus NOT Christians.

What the HECK are you people talking about?
Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father, but by me.”
Salvation comes only through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Savior. No deeds are ever good enough. No denomination label is good enough. No baptism is good enough.
You said — “I guess it depends if you are talking about a church label or a relationship with God in ones heart. If the latter, that is between the individual and God.”
In terms of basic, historic and foundatinoal Christian doctrines and teaching — it’s clear that the Mormons do not teach this. They are teaching something totally different.
They will admit it (sort of...) by saying that Christian doctrines are really corruptions of true Christianity and that the Mormons have the true version of it. They will deny those basic, historic and foundational doctrines, although it’s sometimes hard to get one of the Mormons to admit that “personally”. It’s well documented in their own source material.
One sort of funny example is how the Mormons say that Satan is the spirit brother of Jesus Christ... LOL.. You’ll never get that kind of teaching from a “Christian church”... :-) [just one weird and funny example...] It goes on and on from there.
Mormonism is what the Christian church calls a “cult” (in their teachings and doctrines...). That doesn’t mean that they’re going to do a “Jim Jones” number on their people — because “cult” in the Christian context means that a group does not teach the foundational doctrines of Christianity (and doesn’t have to do with denominational differences...).
So, there is a very large and well-documented repository of facts and information about the “cult status” of the Mormon teachings and doctrines, in comparison to the basic, historic and foundational teachings of Christianity.
that’s a very docile cat, to accept a dolphin on her head like that. black cats aren’t usually like that
what’s this thread about?
Do not use potty language - or reference to potty language - on the Religion Forum.
That’s pretty much how I was raised, too.
Do Mormons reject that?
You said — “ Im not Mitt Romneys biggest fan, but I was shocked at the number of conservative voters who wanted to split hairs over whether he was a Christian during the primaries.”
Romney adheres to Mormon teachings and doctrines, which are not Christian teachings and doctrines. As for me, I won’t ever vote for someone who adheres to teachings and doctrines of a cult group and have him as President.
This is one of the main reasons I have no label other than Christian. Just me and my Lord.
Works are very important to Mormons. They do not believe a person can be saved on his beliefs and confession.
Christians should do good works. Those are the fruit they will be known by. Good works are not a requirement of salvation, though.
Then there’s Obama, who believes that Christianity is just one of “many paths” to the same ultimate destiny. NOT A CHRISTIAN!
“Big Love,” the show about polygamists on HBO.
You asked — “My only question is why anyone cares about this nonsense in the first place.”
Well..., for the same kind of reason that there are those who care about the Bill of Rights (and the often-mentioned 2nd Amendment...).
It’s what is considered “fundamental stuff” and “truth” — if you will. For Christians who adhere to the basic, historic and foundational teachings of Christianity — they are going to want to “make a distinction” from another group who *does not teach that* (but who also try to pretend that they do... :-) ... ).
It would be like a liberal saying he is for 2nd Amendment rights, and then passing laws to subvert them. That would get a lot of people “up in arms”... LOL...
Pity whoever wrote this drivel does not read, write or understand the English language enough to publish it.
Don’t you people ever get tired of this same old attack garbage?
Oh jeez not this again. And Mormons don’t deny the Bible.
Let's try to stay factual in this discussion. Read Luke 1:28 "And coming to her, he said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you." The Greek kecharitomene means favored by grace, graced. Its tense suggests a permanent state of being "highly favored," thus full of grace. Charity, the divine love within us, comes from the same root. God is infinite Goodness, infinite Love. Mary is perfect created goodness, filled to the limit of her finite being with grace or charity.
