I don’t believe in “secret” versions of the Bible which conveniently support special agendas. Even without the comment from St. Mark, it’s still clear that the Lord meant that evil, sin, uncleanness is in our hearts, not in our stomachs

The uncleanness in our hearts is the most crucial however the physical is a shadow of the spiritual. He doesn't keep pork, shrimp, etc from us because He hates us but in order to protect us and that the days of our lives are prolonged (spiritually and physically).

Leviticus 26:3 If ye walk in My statutes, and keep My commandments, and do them;

26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

And...

Deuteronomy 6:1-2 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whiter ye go to possess it: That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all His statues and His commandments, which I command thee, thou and thy son, and they sons's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

Now I see...instead of unclean it is forbidden.

These are not literal trees though. Christ is the Tree of Life while you know who is the other tree.

“These are not literal trees . . .you know who is the other tree.”

I don’t think so.

First, in the text G-d and the angels note that they are aware of the difference between “good and evil” -— thus having “eaten from the tree” so to speak. The difference is humans were forbidden to do so.

Second, “you know who” is already present in the tale -— in the form of the serpant.

Consider this. In Revelation 13 we are told of the first and second beast. The first beast is a network of worldly powers...all answering to Satan. They are already operating. The second beast is Satan, presently in heaven being held by Michael but his spirit and his men are hard at work on earth. Soon that second beast, the serpent, the dragon...joins us here.

Think of the two beasts as the emperor and his empire. Well, that empire is what the tree of knowledge of good and evil is...just loaded down with fruit for us to pick! And, wrapped around that tree/empire is Satan...the emperor.

It isn't a literal tree anymore than Christ is a literal tree.

Revelation 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the TREE OF LIFE, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

When Satan originally sinned I believe he (and his demons) became impure and unclean [Matthew 10:1] before God. As previously indicated, elsewhere in this thread, the word for unclean in the Greek is "AKATHARTOS" and it means....not purified.

So.....even before the creation and the establishment of mankind at Eden there were unclean spirits in existence and there were also in existence at that time....clean spirits [Job 38:4-7].

I agree. I see them being the "beasts of the earth" in Genesis 1:25. I came across an interesting verse a few weeks ago...

Jeremiah 31:27 "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

The difference pointed to is that of Israel, mankind and beast. He doesn't mean a bear or a lion but the beasts that are roaming earth now...dispicable beasts doing dispicable things.

Thank you so much for your post about this....terrific and full of information, as usual!

LOL. Think about trees simply being symbolic for people.

Isaiah 55:12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and ALL THE TREES of the field shall clap their hands.

Mountains often refer to nations while hills are smaller countries. The field is the world so....trees of the field are people in the world. Trees don't clap their hands and mountains and hills don't sing.

Well, I come at this from a Jewish perspective, and, in many, many years of schooling, I can safely say your interpretation would be foreign to all but maybe some hippie Reform Jews out there.

Well...I'm not Jewish or a hippie. LOL. But, if I was do you think I would believe trees clapped their hands?

Matthew 7:18 A good tree can not bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tre bring forth good fruit.

These aren't literal trees He is teaching about.
