From The Times April 8, 2009 Tony Blair tells the Pope: you're wrong on homosexuality
Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent
Tony Blair has challenged the entrenched attitudes of the Pope on homosexuality, and argued that it is time for him to rethink his views.
Speaking to the gay magazine Attitude, the former Prime Minister, himself now a Roman Catholic, said that he wanted to urge religious figures everywhere to reinterpret their religious texts to see them as metaphorical, not literal, and suggested that in time this would make all religious groups accept gay people as equals.
Asked about the Popes stance, Mr Blair blamed generational differences and said: We need an attitude of mind where rethinking and the concept of evolving attitudes becomes part of the discipline with which you approach your religious faith.
The Pope, who is 82, remains firmly opposed to any relaxation of the Churchs traditional stance on homosexuality, contraception or any other area of human sexuality. He has described homosexuality as a tendency towards an intrinsic moral evil.

Is this enough for excommunication?
Hey, Pope Bennie-boy, we’d like you to rethink your views on Heaven, too. And while you’re at it, we have a little problem with that “sin” thing...
I guess that whole thing about idolotars, whoremongers, fornicators, and adulterers not inherting the kingdom of heaven was just a joke.
Tony Blair, you moron.
I dont think Tony Blair is near an authority on what the Pope shoud do about homosexuality.
Farmer18th tells the Pope: you’re right on homosexuality.
Blair is more afraid of the bathhouse boys and the gay mafia, than his Lord?
Blair’s “conversion” was phony.
The priest who brought him into the Church was one of those priests who love to pal around with prominent people. Blair entered the Church without any public repudiation of his pro-abortion history. That alone makes his “conversion” fraudulent. No priest or bishop with any integrity would have allowed him to go through the motions of joining the Church without demanding such a public repudiation.
Blair can be counted on to give evidence for years to come that he has not really become a Catholic.
Speaking to the gay magazine Attitude, the former Prime Minister, himself now a Roman Catholic
So Blair is just one more infiltrator to the Church in an attempt to undermine it from within. Just because he joined, all of a sudden he gets to set rules for the Church? I’d tell him to hit the road and wouldn’t care if the door hit him on the way out or not.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are not the Pope’s ideas. They are God’s ideas.
Why not take a quick trip to the Throne Room of God and argue with him, Toni Blare.
The man has no concept of The Catholic Church.
(shaking head in disgust)
Hey Tony STFU!
Sadly, it seems Tony is a ‘Cafeteria Catholic’.
why... so it can become like the CoE??? i think not.
it’s bad enough he has allowed the savage death cult muslims to damn near completely take over his own country, now this. I can’t believe I used to support this gomer.
Tony, just go back to the Anglican church where you belong. They love homos.
The Pope called Blair in and talked to him before he “converted,” but clearly this had no effect. Blair’s wife is a cradle Catholic and is completely left-wing, both politically and religiously, and obviously runs her husband.
Remember when ‘ol Tone came across as being ‘all Christian like’ right before the Iraq war? He’s just another ‘bottom tissue’.
And he’s campaigning to become the first “permanent president” of the EU ????
So metaphorically speaking homosexuality is an abomination, but not literally???? I am sorry Mr. Blair, but your logic fails.
He is...

...The Most Interesting Man In The World.
You gotta be kidding me.
His opinion on this matter has about the same gravitas as Paris Hiltons.
Even if you use Blairs logic that it was just a metaphor, it still means the Bible considers homosexuality wrong. His argument makes no logical sense. OK, it is a metaphor, does that mean it is a normal healthy righteous activity?
Don't insult Paris. She is more capable of putting together a logical argument.
Not a Catholic for a year yet and he thinks he can tell the Pope how to do his job??? What a cheeky bastard!
Ah I see that Tony Blair has been hanging out with Nancy Pelosi. Let’s just leave Catholic theology up to the Pope and other people in the Catholic church who actually now something abbout Catholicism.
I would listen to Benny Hill before I’d listen to Tony Blair.
Blair tells God ... you’re wrong ... and FUBO says so too
Very, very clever
If he were to commit heresy, the penalty (excommunication) would be latae sententiae, or automatic without sentence.
Clemenza to Tony Blair: Go push your own G-D broom and let the Pope do HIS job!
OK there Tony Linda Blair...if the Lord utters to you instead ‘thy will be done’ expect results that are not so bloody good ole bloke!
******************
Ummmmm..... Tony.....
Neither God.... nor His Holy Word....
Are obligated to "evolve" to suit the demands of a perverse sub-culture and its adherents and advicates....
Ergo.... it follows...
That the messengers God has chosen and ordained to convey the Gospel in every culture and generation are called and GLADLY OBLIGATED to be faithful to the LORD, and proclaim the Word faithfully...
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father...
There is no shadow of turning with Thee!
Perhaps the dynamnics should be reversed -- and the eternal truth becomes the basis for approaching the "attitude of mind" governing the culture.
Your eternal outcome will be more favorable - imho.
Gee, Tony...welcome to the flock and all but nobody asked for your opinion.
There was a recent study from Harvard which showed that people who use condoms are more prone to get AIDS than people who don’t, because the condoms give them a false sense of security and are more likely to promote promiscuous behavior - so the Pope was right on scientific and statistical grounds as well as religious ones.
Pretty cheeky for a brand spanking new Catholic.
“So Blair is just one more infiltrator to the Church in an attempt to undermine it from within.”
Bingo.
The whole world community appears to be jumping on the bandwagon to whack our dear Pope. We just need him to stay strong. Pray hard for this beautiful man of God.

And as they were going along the road they came to some salt, and the eunuch said, "See, here is salt! What prevents me from having it rubbed in my wound?"
- Acts 8:36, AMV (Alex Murphy Version)
‘He said: When people quote the passages in Leviticus condemning homosexuality, I say to them if you read the whole of the Old Testament and took everything that was there in a literal way, as being what God and religion is about, youd have some pretty tough policies across the whole of the piece.’
Notice how old Tony doesn’t have the courage to deal with these New Testament passages of Romans 1:24-27, I Corinthians 6:9-10, I Timothy 1:10 or with how Jesus Himself defined marriage as involving one male and one female in Matthew 19:4-6 and how He condemned all sex outside of marriage(under the Matthew 19:4-6 definition) in Mark 7:21.
Exactly, why are we supposed to be impressed with Blair? Give me the Winston Churchills and Iron Ladies of yesteryear any day over this dufus who’s presided over the secularization and Islamification of a once great nation.
Uh...Tony...?It’s pretty clear that Jesus,(you,know...the guy that Christianity is founded on...),thought marriage was one man and one woman.(Matthew 19:4-6).Perhaps you’d like to take it up with Him?
Kudos to your father! Reminds me of my Presbyterian grandmother, who showed more respect for the Pope than the self-described Catholics in my family.
Someone needs to give him the Catechism so he can see for himself that it’s not just the Pope’s opinion.
Tony Blair:”Well, what does Jesus have to do with Christianity anyway?”
A mistake on Blair’s part. He’s a new Catholic, I have to cut him some slack.
