Social conservatives and economic conservatives really need each other. As a political faction, they can win, as evidenced by the Reagan revolution. More than that, they complete one another.
Church's should adopt free market principles. They are based on Christian values that are rooted in valid theology. Christ accepted ownership, trade, and contract. Marxist liberation theology has a foundation in Marx (an atheist), not Christ.
Free market advocates should understand that, historically, their own values emanated from Christian society. If the foundation rots and withers, the edifice will fall. Perhaps that is what we are witnessing now in America, and previously in Europe.
David Horowitz has described socialism as an ideology of theft. With no commandment against theft, perhaps Government theft is alright. With a declining emphasis on God, people turn to government as a God surrogate who can provide heaven on earth. Government can tax, spend, and regulate society to perfection. The only standard that a democratically elected government need heed is the relative standard provided by the heavily indoctrinated voter.
First word, paragraph 3, should read: Churches (not “Church’s”).
