I hope this article makes you sick
The Deacon's Bench ^ | August 19, 2009

Posted on 08/20/2009 9:47:27 AM PDT by Pope Pius XII

Those words begin this stark, frank, and -- unfortunately -- utterly necessary column by the very fine writer Leonard Pitts, Jr..

The subject is Nazis, who seem to be everywhere these days.

Read on: I hope this column makes you sick.

See, we'll be talking about Nazis, something many of us are doing lately. Indeed, just this week a fellow named Joseph e-mailed me about a caller he heard on a radio show. The man, vexed over healthcare reform, likened President Obama to Adolf Hitler. Asked why, he said, ``Hitler took over the car companies, then healthcare and then he killed the Jews.''

Said Joseph: ``I almost swerved my vehicle off the road when I heard that.''

But the caller is hardly unique. Google ``Obama + Nazis'' and you get almost seven million hits. Nor is the phenomenon new. Substitute President Bush's name and you get nearly 2.8 million.

What makes me sick, is when people can't handle the reality of how evil abortion really is.

50 million dead from abortion in the US since Roe v. Wade.

That is twice the number of illegal immigrants we have in this country.

The National Socialist Workers Party of Germany, otherwise known as the Nazi Party, was socialist, and it had a lot in common with the modern left. Hitler preached class warfare, agitating the working class to resist “exploitation” by capitalists — particularly Jewish capitalists, of course. Their program called for the nationalization of education, health care, transportation, and other major industries. They instituted and vigorously enforced a strict gun control regimen. They encouraged pornography, illegitimacy, and abortion, and they denounced Christians as right-wing fanatics. Yet a popular myth persists that the Nazis themselves were right-wing extremists. This insidious lie biases the entire political landscape, and the time has come to expose it.

Well said. I think Leonard Pitts did a tap dance, if you ask me, around the abortion issue.

Well, there is one major difference. Hitler killed the Jews in concentration camps with gas chambers and such. Obama will not kill the Jews, he will just allow Iran to nuke them.

It's important to remember that the Nazis are passing out of living memory; U.S. soldiers of that era are said to be dying at the rate of 1,200 a day. Which makes it too easy, I think, for a nation of notorious historical illiteracy to remake the Nazis as some kind of all-purpose boogeymen for slandering political enemies and scoring cheap rhetorical points.

Like accusing someone of McCarthyism?

After EIGHT YEARS of BUSH = HITLER, Pitts finally writes an article about how bad it was to call Bush “Hitler”.

Where was Pitts from 2001 through 2008?

Did he EVER address this issue while Bush was being assailed?

By the way, this stooge is lying by omission.

Google prunes out older web content now.

Yahoo doesn’t as much

1 - 10 of 28,900,000 for bush hitler (About)

1 - 10 of 35,500,000 for obama hitler (About)

Obama still is ahead by this count. Context still would need to be investigated.

1 - 10 of 11,700,000 for bush fascist

1 - 10 of 13,100,000 for obama fascist

A bit closer match there.

1 - 10 of 4,540,000 for GOP fascism

1 - 10 of 1,180,000 for DNC fascism

1 - 10 of 2,300 for obamahitler

-

recall too that Google will fudge your words now (swap fascists for fascist for fascism etc).

Ayers’ group foresaw genocide of capitalists
Informer says communist U.S. envisioned, re-education centers, 25 million ‘eliminated’

Posted: October 23, 2008
Larry Grathwohl recalled his experience in the 1982 documentary “No Place to Hide,”

In a session with members of the radical group, founded in 1969, Grathwohl said discussion centered on a future in which the communist nations of Cuba, North Korea, China and the Soviet Union would occupy various parts of the U.S., with “re-education centers” established in the Southwest to prevent counterrevolution.

“I asked, ‘Well what is going to happen to those people we can’t reeducate, that are diehard capitalists?’ And the reply was that they’d have to be eliminated.”

Grathwohl, who worked as an operative for law enforcement agencies in Cincinnati, said when he pursued the genocide issue further, the Weather Underground members “estimated they would have to eliminate 25 million people in these re-education centers.”

“And when I say ‘eliminate,’ I mean ‘kill,’” he continued. “Twenty-five million people.”

What the author of this piece needs to understand is that nobody in Germany thought Hitler would become what his name stands for now. Only after it was too late and the socialist agenda was entrenched throughout Germany did the people realize what Hitler was.

When some grew suspicious and made their concerns known, the Nazis simply mowed them down. Those of us who were born shortly after WWII never got to see Hitler when he was an up and coming politician. We got to see what was left in his wake, our father's nightmares from the horrors of the war, their tears at the overwhelming losses.

Up to that point, Hitler was a swell guy and great dancer. No one EVER thinks it's the devil when he has his arm around your shoulder and speaks words of comfort and enticement.

It doesn't denigrate results of the historical Hitler. It reminds us the devil is in the details and all hooks are baited with something enticing.

Notice how they never address how Obama has been called a Marxist or Stalinist or Socialist. But Hitler, WHOA. Stalin killed 20 million of his own people, no biggie. Then again one of FDR’s own Vice President’s visited Stalin’s gulags and said nothing.

EVEN in America there was a hush hush police on denouncing Hitler (prior to our entering the war).

Hollywood was afraid that they would lose a sizable foreign market (and people TRIED to make anti-Nazi films going back to 1936).

And Communist Party USA stood with Mother Russia (which has signed a pact with Hitler) in denouncing any move for the US to go to war againt Nazi Germany.

You know, these comparisons to Hitler are used so frequently, by both sides, against their political enemies it has no effect any more. It doesn't persuade anyone any more - as soon as I hear the Hitler comparison, I tune out. Like the race card, it has lost any effectiveness through overuse.

I think Obama is a lying huckster, is in way over his head, wouldn't know good economic policy if it slapped him in the face, is a racist and owes his election to a combination of an activist media and millions of uninformed voters who elected him simply because he shares their skin color. But he is not Hitler, and I think we minimize the magnitude of the destruction Hitler wrought by these comparisons.

Besides, Hitler was capable of writing his own book ... and had anyone in the early 1930’s read it, his aims were crystal clear. Obama purposefully ties to hide his agenda and, with the cooperation of a love-struck media, has done a pretty good job.

Excellent, excellent points. I would go so far to say that even Hitler did not know the evil he was capable of before he gained so much power. Such is the slippery slope of exchanging freedoms for perceived security. It is a cliche, but this is why people shout warnings of "Hitler!" and "Fascist!" while they still can.

Sadly, I think these points are lost on the dear deacon who runs the blog, along with so many others in the clergy that do not understand that the Christian principle of self-determination is the cornerstone of Western society.

Thank you for pointing this out. I almost posted a P.S. to that effect. I agree that Hitler didn’t have a clue what he had/would become. He simply put the programs and structures in place before he became quite insane from STDs and mescaline abuse. At that point, there was no way to stop him and the rest, as they say, is history.

The cautionary tale here is don’t put programs and policies into place that are begging to be abused by those with no integrity or who may be downright certifiably mad. It’s too late to stand up and fight then.

The article doesn’t discuss what Nazi’s were. It discusses what they eventually became. Those who compare Obama to Nazi’s are comparing him to Nazism in the earlier days with a belief that it could very well grow into what Nazism grew into.

Before the election I would compare Obama to Hitler in a few ways. As I have watched his Presidency MO, he has actually become more like Mussolini.

"...he has actually become more like Mussolini."

Certainly in the looks department.

I still think Axlerod is Hitler.

To join with some of the other posters:
The author ignores the many links between Hitler's brand of socialism and Obama's brand of socialism. The lesson should be that such zealots are capable of consequences that most would have believed when they voted for 'change'.

There is no evil that exists in the world, proportionate to the evil of abortion.

There is truly a culture of death amongst the socialists...the atheistic. Persons should not be surprised that when mankind teaches, promotes, supports, encourages and funds the slaughter of innocent defenseless little boys and girls throughout the whole world...that life becomes something trivial in significance and magnitude and dignity to the generations of persons being subjected.

Those whom refer to themselves as progressive can hardly truly claim that their ideals progress mankind to a more peaceful plateau - their violence and bigotry undergird their every action. They are ignorant of the truth, because these persons refuse to admit that mankind is as evil today as at any other time throughout our history. Nothing has changed - we are on the same path and have increased in momentum...the longer time goes on the more certain our outcome is and the more difficult it is to change that outcome.

To dismiss the actions of atheistic socialism as being unique to the Nazis is delusion. Wouldn't it be wonderful if only those humans at that particular point in time had that same violence and bigotry...that same ideology and philosophy? The elderly, disabled, incompetent, poor, etc, are all a "drain" on society and are all costly to respect and to provide care for. The good thing to do is to honor, respect and protect them and their wisdom. The so-called progressive thing to do is to eliminate them...their effect from society altogether and forever..to discount them and to trivialize their contribution to man and to life. Progressives have such little Faith.

To dismiss drawn parallels and similarities of atheistic socialist ideals and philosophies and practices, as being unfounded simply because someone uses the most infamous scenario in the world, is disingenuous and pure denial of the truth. The person who wrote this article showed his ignorance in several places and it will do no good to point out the particular instances, suffice to say, he is a product of the "system."

We slaughter over 50,000,000 defenseless little boys and girls every year in the world...and somehow the progressives believe this is a good. We promote assisted suicide in some states here and practice euthanasia at our nursing homes and somehow progressives see this as a good. Throughout the world the progressives call for the destruction of life, be it for economic, evnironmental, social or political "reason," is is not a good but an evil. When progressives are more worried about whether Michael Vick had a hand in killing seven dogs so he can't participate in their religion (sports and entertainment) and less worried that a mother like Whoopi Goldberg proudly and publicly claims to have slaughtered seven of her own children...their evil intents are as clear today as they were in 1940.

I know, it doesn't begin with this administration, but this particular administration displays its atheistic socialism on its sleeve. Over time perhaps this could be good or could be at least weaved by God into a good as perhaps persons will finally have to separate themselves from what has been convenient for their own causes and move more away from the evils that are conveniently and passively not acknowledged.

The reason the national socialism failed then - it lied about the dignity of the human person - the reason it will always fail.

Well, I think history has shown that socialism/communism/marxism, the same disease just different development stages, has killed many more people than did the Nazi's.

So when we get down to it, seems like Nazi labelers are being a little gracious to Obama.

If we give Obama time and resources I'm sure he and his power hungry mob, including Dr. Zeke and John Holdren and Van Jones, will yet again prove socialism/communism/marxism is capable of mass brutality and barbarism even in America.
