This is the most balanced accounting of this funeral that I have seen.

Highlighting of second paragraph is mine.

Finally the truth here about what the Pope did and did NOT say.

Actually Pope Benedict has avoided any public comment whatsoever on Senator Kennedy's death. Presumably the Pontiff has his reasons for choosing to be silent, and indeed it is not difficult to imagine what those reasons might be. If only the American hierarchy had opted for a similar silence-- praying for the soul of Ted Kennedy, certainly, but not extolling his public life-- the Church might have avoided another grave public scandal.

From my non-Catholic view point, I find the biggest scandal of scandals regarding the ‘lion’ is Teddy Kennedy teaming up with the KGB against President Reagan and the Polish Pope in tearing down the evil Iron Curtain.

This even though I am not Catholic I find more than offensive but down right disgusting. Something smells to ‘high’ heaven with all the silence.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, who died late Aug. 25 at the age of 77

One more reason United Airlines sucks: I was on a DEN-BOS flight on the evening of 25 August. Upon arrival in BOS (wee hours of 26 August, this being UAL), the cabin crew found it necessary to announce Fat Teddy's departure.

I’m not a Catholic, however, I would assume the Pope’s silence means that he didn’t approve of senator kennedy. Otherwise, I would think that the Pope would’ve made some kind of statement. JMO

It matters not really what the pope says or doesn’t say at this point. What really matters is what GOD says. He has the final say at this point.

Although I think Kennedy was a scumbag, regardless of his so-called good deeds, I do hope that he was able to make peace with the Lord before his death. We have no way of knowing that.

It seems to me that Teddy Kennedy had no remorse.

It seems to me that Teddy Kennedy had no remorse.

How in the world would you presume to know that?

“We cannot know the state of Ted Kennedy’s soul when he finally succumbed to brain cancer. We are told that he was visited regularly by a priest in his last days; we assume that he made a sincere confession and received absolution. We can — and should, and do — pray that he receives the same sort of merciful judgment that we wish for ourselves.”

Gee, maybe I should change my tagline...nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

"We can -- and should, and do -- pray that he receives the same sort of merciful judgment that we wish for ourselves."

Hebrews 9:27--"It is appointed to man to die once, and then the judgment." Too late for prayer now. He had his chance. This pig who advocated the slaughter of millions of pre-born children, left a woman to die in his sinking car, sexually harassed many others, and slandered good men in public from the Senate floor will get the especially hot place in hell he deserves.

I know I deserve hell, but I am grateful for the mercy Jesus Christ showed me, taking my place. That same grace is available to everybody, but he chose his own way. He will get the judgment he wanted by refusing that grace.

Kennedy’s Mass should have NEVER been televised; especially with obama at the pulpit. Major league embarrassment. Kennedy had over a year to publicly denounce abortion. Did he? Maybe I missed that.

It was offensive to Reagan too, I’m sure.

Anyway, we can pray for him. I’m sure he’s having a long wait in Purgatory, even if he did receive the Anointing of the sick — Last Rites from a priest.

You are totally right in your assumptions about the Pope’s silence. It’s too bad the American bishops didn’t think.

We didn’t see that with a priest for a private confession, though, hard to say about the real remose.

The bottom line is the world has one less POS. Just my opinion.

Supporting the bloody communist was an offense to all living souls that were held under the godless system.

Do you pray for Stalin's soul? I sure do not nor Hitler or any other godless dictator. Teddy will have to do his accounting all on his own, and there is one thing he cannot say was he did not know. And as with each of us, it will be an individual one on one face to face accounting.

Here are a few details about the Sacraments Kennedy may have received. We cannot step in for God and judge.

Beginning Catholic: The Sacrament of Reconciliation: Rising Again to New Life [Ecumenical]
Beginning Catholic: The Anointing of the Sick: Comfort and Healing [Ecumenical]

**Kennedy’s Mass should have NEVER been televised**

The tribute was really overblown. Media at fault?
